“HOLD IT!!” A loud yell cut through the silent morning. “Get back here!!” A middle aged man yelled again, running after a young girl. “Never!” the 14 year old girl yelled back at the man. She was carrying a small bread under in her arms. “Little brat!” the man, known as the baker of the village, yelled and quickened his pas.
“Old man!” Hishime yelled back at him, also running a little faster. She bended her knees and jumped up, landing on the roof on a random house. The young girl glanced at the man, who had stopped running and was panting heavily. ‘Finally..’ Hishime thought and continued running.

Kyokki cast a curious golden gaze on the girl who had just landed on her roof, as she watched form the balcony. As the girl started to run again, Kyokki leaped up on the roof after her.
"Excuse me," she called, her voice wavering a little, "I'm Hisak- I'm Tenkiame Kyokki. Are you okay?"
She caught sight of the angered baker below, and immediantly got the drift of what was going on.
"C'mon," she said more softly, knowing the girl probably wouldn't trust her, "You can wait it out at my place, if you want. I moved in recently, though, so it's not excatly spotless."

Hishime stopped running as she heard as she heard an unfamiliar voice behind her. She quickly turned around, automatically on guard. She listened carefully to the girls words. ‘What the heck?’ The 14 year old thought, tightening her grip on the bread.
“Thanks for the offer.. but.. no.” She replied coldly, and turned around again. ‘There’s no way I’m gonna trust her..’ she thought and started to walk away. Hishime glanced over her shoulder at the girl before jumping off the roof.
“Hey!!” she heard an angry voice behind her. ‘Crap.’ She thought and turned around slowly. She laughed nervously as she saw the already angry baker running towards her. “Crap!” Hishime yelled before taking off at full speed. ‘Why am I so stupid?’ she thought and sweatdropped.

Kyokki jumped down in front of the steamingly angry baker, pulling out her wallet with a single quick motion. She pressed several crumpled yen bills in the man's sweaty palm, and watched half amused as shock stole over his face.
"I don't care how much more or less that is than what she what the girl owes you," the seventeen year old said, sounding more like her 29 year old aunt in the firmness of her tone, "You'll leave now, understood?"
The man scowled as he counted the bills, then looked up at her again.
"Your loss -----, not mine," he said as he turned away.
"The name's Tenkiame Kyokki, Tenkiame-san to you," she said as she hopped back onto the balcony, picking up the manga volume she had been readng and then discarded.

Hishime glanced over her shoulder to see if the angry man was still following her. She stopped running and watched the baker walk away. ‘What the…’ she thought, really not expecting this. She narrowed her eyes a little. Her jaw dropped as she saw the crumpled bills in his hand.
She looked at the girl, who hopped back onto her balcony, a small smile crossed the young girls face. Hishime bit her lowerlip, starting to feel a little guilty. A deep sigh escaped from her lips before she jumped up, and landed next to the girl. “Uhmm..” she managed to say, and looked at the ground.
“You didn’t have to..” Hishime mumbled, feeling a little nervous. “It’s not your problem..”

"It's cool, just a loaf of bread, very little trouble really," Kyokki smiled, suddenly shy, "Hajime Mashite, by the way. I guess I can skip re-introducing myself, though I'd like to know your name."
Suddenly, Kyokki, turned her back on the stranger, running quickly into her apartment, but leaving the balcony door open.
"Hold on a sec! Stay here" she called back over her shoulder, as she started rustiling through her kitchen, until she found a few smal bundles wrapped in brown paper.
For a second I thought I had lost these, too, just like everything else in the world. She though with a sigh. She grabbed three tubaware bowls of left overs, two bottles of Ramune soda (ooc: Which I've actually had!) from the fridge, a few napkins, two plates, and some chopsticks.
The blonde teenager re-emerged, spreading the goods on the patio-style table outside. She picked two up, opening one to reveal a sweet Uiro cake (traditional Japanese steamed cake made of rice flour and sugar) and handed its twin to the stranger.
"Would you mind eating breakfast with me, Miss?" She asked, "It won't be the most healthy or traditional, but my Aunt forced all of this on me on her last visist, a few days ago. If I don't get it all eaten, it's gonna rot. Plus, if I don't hear a even semi-friendly human voice soon, one that's not all bound by duty to Okaachan's memory, I think I'm gonna go nuts."
Eyeing the spread, she checked the kare pan ( deep fried bread filled with Japanese curry sauce), Zaru Soba (Soba noodles served cold), Tojiru soup (ike Miso, but with pork), and Nikujaga (beef and potato stew, flavoured with sweet soy) off the "too eat" list.
Thank Goodness
