Morning was one of his favourite times. Oft his dad was passed out somewhere inside, an empty bottle in his hand, glass on the floor. This allowed him to sneak in and grab something, anything he could use, and leave without being seen. This morning was just the same, and as he peered through the window, Kazhe was satisfied with the steady rising and falling of his father's chest. He gathered a thin layer of chakra to his feet, walking slowly and more comfortably on the porch, skipping all the creaking areas, the chakra cushioning the rest of the sounds. Slowly, he pushed open the door to the house, and walked inside, wary the entire time as he made his way to the kitchen and pulled out a small bowl of soup from the refridgerator. So what if it was cold? It would still taste good. He placed it gently on the counter as he released the chakra on his feet and opened a drawr slowly, pulling out a small wad of money that he knew was his father's. However, he wouldn't even realize it was gone. The boy pocketed the ryou and took the soup and a sthingy outside, quick as possible, but still making little noise.
After that, he crouched underneath the tree he slept under now, sthingying the cold soup into his mouth at a quick pace, always worried his dad would wake up and find him out here. He finished it in a matter of minutes and left it on the ground before taking off into the village, running at a speed only ninja's had. His electric blue hair pressed at his face as he leaped, roof top to roof top, his eyes closed most of the time, using his senses to guide him.
Abruptly, the boy stopped, on the roof top that was covering a store his father always visited. It sold Sake, the kind he liked. He would be here sometime today, no doubt, he came to blow off his money every day. And he was always drunk, therefore, he hardly realized when his money had suddenly gone missing, nor did he recognize a small blob of bright blue above him as he walked into the store. Kazhe was thankful for that everyday, because as a drunkard, he couldn't use his shinobi skills, meaning Kazhe could easily beat him if he needed too.
The young chuunin sighed to himself as he slowly pulled out a kunai from his pouch, flicking it around in his fingers boredly. He took amusement from hearing the store owners continuously yell at his dad, which was the only reason he was there everyday, spying like that. There wasn't very many times his father beat him anymore, but he still held the painful memories, and for some reason, seeing his father humiliated like this, well, it calmed him down. The boy's bright green eyes opened wide as he scanned again, and seeing nothing, pushed himself backwards and fell against the roof top, lying there, kunai idly in hand, wondering what else he would do today.

Kaede sighed as her footfalls made contact with the soft, sandy earth. The day was young, but today she felt more haggard than ever; she hadn't eaten since the morning before, and her mind had grown considerably slower, thinking only of sustenance and a cool shelter. Curse this heat, she complained, squinting up at the desert sun. Thoroughly annoyed, she pulled her hood further about her face, being careful again to shade her too-noticeable eyes.
After a few minutes (and a few hungry contractions of her stomach), Kaede decided upon a rest. Looking about her, she scanned the city shops, avoiding contact with the people who hurried by. Directly in front of her was a small sake shop, in which two men were arguing about prices and quality. She frowned at the location, but noticed the rooftop, built in such a way that it might offer an inkling of shade. Setting her jaw, she slipped around to the back of the building and, gathering a small amount of chakra to her hands and feet, clambered up the bluish stucco to the rim of the rooftop, her black cloak blowing dangerously behind her.
With a small grunt, she pulled herself over the ledge and shook some residue from her hands. Keeping low, Kaede crawled to the place she had viewed from the street, hoping, at last, for some downtime.
So much for that idea. I should have known.
A boy, perhaps not much younger than she, sat lazily against the rooftop, fiddling idly with a kunai knife.

Slowly, his eyes closed as he relaxed under the heat of the day, still clutching the kunai in his right hand and keeping his ears and senses trained. He mumbled something to himself as he felt another presence, and quickly took.. well, action. Kazhe gripped tighter on the kunai, springing up from his position until he was standing, leaning slightly as he stared at the girl who was there. She seemed.. annoyed, her stance, it showed. His head tipped slightly, questioningly. And she seemed about his age.
However, he didn't loosen his hold on the weapon, instead stood staring at her, trying to place her. She wasn't someone familiar to him, not a girl he'd seen around the streets. The cloak and hood she had on, it wasn't something that would allow him to see inside. He grunted softly, flipping the kunai mindlessly between his fingers, deciding he should speak up. Kazhe shook his head slightly, and his messy bright blue hair fell out his face, revealing even more those vivid green eyes he hated -- much too.. show-offy and stand out-ish. The chuunin boy's voice was flat as he spoke, his gaze holding a hint of curiousity. "Do you need something, miss?"
His voice felt scratchy from not using it, almost foreign to him as he inquired of the stranger. "I haven't seen you around before. Want to tell me your name?" His eyebrows rose questioningly, and the hand without a weapon strayed to the roots of his messy locks, ruffling out just a few more grains of sand from a delicate breeze. His pose changed slightly as he took a step forward, his head still slightly tipped. Kazhe's left hand went to the pouch on his leg almost instinctively {He's right-handed, the kunai's in his right hand; he's reaching across his body} and fingered the fabric lightly, in case she'd pose a threat to him. But that would be rather unintelligent of her, considering they were in the middle of Sunagakure's village.. and on a rooftop, in broad daylight.

Kaede's instincts got the best of her, and she immediately reached for her own set of kunai, strung securely on a belt concealed beneath her cloak. But just as her fingers brushed the cold gray metal, she shook her head and closed her eyes, chastising herself. No need to be hasty.
She peered at the boy who had startled her. Eyes—eyes as bright as emeralds—shone in the light of the afternoon sun. They stared back at her without pretense, without shame. It wasn't until she forced herself to avert her gaze did Kaede realize that those eyes were unnaturally beautiful, and that they rivaled the shock of her own.
"Do you need something, miss?"
Kaede looked up again at the voice. His voice—calm, but rough and under-used.
He spoke again. "I haven't seen you around here before. Want to tell me your name?"
Kaede noticed his left hand linger close to his kunai holster, though his posture, in general, was simply one of curiosity. He tilted his electric-blue head to the side, waiting.
Couldn't hurt, now.
"Kaede," she responded, letting her hand fall from her hidden belt. "My name is Kaede. And yours?"

Kaede, his mind programmed, to remember it and to place an alias with such a girl. "Kaede." He said slowly, softly, to himself, tasting her name, trying it out. Kazhe nodded, closing his eyes for a moment, his left hand relaxing, withdrawing from the holster, lying against his side now. She asked of his name, and his eyes lazily opened again, holding a blank look with a hint of questioning; did she really care?
"Hokaro Kazhe." He returned, raising his voice to her, a wind sweeping over them again. The sand it carried with it was lost on him, in his hair again more than likely. His sleeves were ruffled, everything blowing off to his right as he gazed on Kaede. "I haven't even.. heard of your name. Are you from Sunagakure, Kaede-chan?" He questioned, inquiring of her again. However, it wasn't that he seriously expected her to answer too many more of his questions, perhaps this one and that would be it. She had a reluctancy around her, perhaps she just didn't like something he had projected. Fear, had he given her the sense that he was fearful of her? And that would push her away, her thoughts of him as scum, weak.
"And, if I may ask, why would you wear such an outfit? You are in the desert, in Sunagakure." He stated almost bluntly. That only added to the question of why she would be here, because all the residents knew that such heavy or covering clothing was irritable and sweaty. Perhaps it was a good thing his mother loved for him to match with the colours of light blue and white. "Heat," he started again, as if trying to explain his reason for asking, "the heat must be unbearable for you."

Kaede bowed her head once, showing that she understood. Kazhe, she repeated inside her head. … An ally, perhaps…
A sudden wind picked up from the city and spun onto the rooftop, threatening the safety of Kaede's unnatural apparel. She shut her eyes for a moment as flecks of glass-sharp sand sped across her barren cheeks. She raised her eyes enough to view the boy, perfectly serene, his own glossy eyes staring back through the wind as if it were not even there. This weather would obviously take some getting used to.
Something about her clumsy reaction to the airstream must have set something off in Kazhe, for now he looked at her more questioningly than before. He asked again something about her name, and where she came from.
Inside, something tensed. Guilt, maybe, or surprise.
Of course you wouldn't have heard my name, she thought. I hardly know it myself, anymore. Hatsu…
To that statement, she paid no response, but answered instead, "I'm not from Suna, no. I'm from… far away."
And she noticed the way he had looked at her before, judgmental and speculating. He was a true shinobi, all right.
She pulled protectively her hood about her face. "And the heat…" Something about this boy, this Kazhe, was different than the rest. He was sincere, honest. Whatever it was, Kaede felt obliged to continue, "yes, since you, uh… since you asked… it is kind of… hot."
Again, she silently cursed the desert of Suna.

Not from Sunagakure. How that surprised him. Her slight pause between comments aroused something, as well as her not saying her country of origin. Most shinobi were rather proud of their village, and took to introducing themselve's as nin from there. She, however, was different. Kazhe would respect that. He nodded his head acceptingly, not wanting to pursue the matter farther, and dropped the subject of where she was from entirely.
"So.." He said in a kind of stupid tone, "take off the hood, or the cloak?" Kazhe finished in a matter of fact tone, raising one brow in a peculiar manner. He was definitely curious as to why she wouldn't shed such heavy garments in this weather, between all the sand and the heat. Hardly anyone owned such clothing, except for perhaps one coat or so for traveling purposes. At least, all Kazhe owned was one thicker coat for traveling missions to colder places, considering Sunagakure was the hottest place he knew of, being in the desert and all. His green eyes were almost interrogative as he stared at her, willing her to spill something to him, give him insight to her life. However, he knew she wouldn't. She didn't seem to be that type.
Changing the subject, Kazhe comfortably stowed away his kunai, folding his arms over his chest. "Okay, I'm not stupid, and obviously you're not going to tell me a lot. But, may I ask the reason you're in Sunagakure? Or if not that, why you would continue and talk to me?" He questioned in as light a tone as he could manage, trying to shrug off any feeling of interviews he may be sending towards her with all these questions. "And one more," He said bluntly, his eyes half-closing, biting his lip, "you're not going to attack me anytime soon, are you?"

(OOC: This will probably be my last post today... =( Homework, you know. But EXCELLENT writing! You've got some serious skill, dude!)
Kaede couldn't suppress a smile. This guy knew how to deal, and she respected that.
Casting a shadowed glance his way, she spent another moment looking Kazhe up and down, analyzing him, testing him. He'd gotten straight to the point—take off the hood. So he was no fool. To remain wary of danger while still being courteous was a trait not found in many, particularly in boys.
When she did not respond, Kazhe went on casually. Okay, I'm not stupid.
At this, Kaede found refreshment, too, for she knew that this boy, was, indeed, no idiot. He also suspected an abnormality in her circumstances in a way more intellectual than superstition. He didn't just think; he knew.
Kaede chuckled pleasantly, something she had not done for a long time. "This hood of mine is more than just uncomfortable outfit, Kazhe-kun," she said smoothly. "And I already know that you're not stupid. On the contrary, you seem rather bright."
She smiled, and her golden eyes flashed in caught sunlight. "As far as my reasons for coming to your city, currently those matters are my own. You can safely say that my business is… complicated, I think.
"And I won't attack you, so don't worry. I'm saving up for someone important."
Kaede felt another small, mysterious breeze waver up to her post on the roof. Something felt strange… almost as if she regretted concealing her identity from this boy. She wanted him to know more, and it got on her nerves in the most uncomfortable way.
"Excuse me for asking," she added in a slighter tone, "but you seem a stranger to me, as well. Now, do you have reasons for hiding out on roofs, or is this just a hobby of yours?"

[ooc;; Thank you!! :33 I've been doing this for about a year now.. I love writing. <3~]
Of course not. He had predicted earlier on that she wouldn't take off the hood, even if he asked about it. Once again, he would leave that subject alone -- she didn't want to tell him, and he wouldn't force the matter. Doing so wouldn't help further her want to explain it to him, he had learned that as a child. He nodded his head in the slightest bit, his gaze dropping a bit, however, only to shoot up in only seconds at her compliment. The chuunin stared at her figure with a confused look. Kazhe bit his lip, dismissing the thought with a chance of glance, he looked up at the sky now, towards the right slightly, embarrassed and not sure what to do now. He wasn't used to that, and it always made him feel awkward, not knowing what to say. He never found himself bright, mayhaps a little excelled in the areas of memorization, but nothing like that.
Kazhe's eyes closed for a moment, and behind his eyelids, his stare moved to where he knew Kaede was standing. His mind ran her words through his head, analyzing, remembering. She had.. things to do here in Sunagakure she wasn't comfortable telling him. Perhaps she was on a mission.. from.. that far away place she was from. That, he would need to remember. Also, that whatever reason she was there for was also something considered 'complicated'. He was fine with that. Nowadays, a lot of things turned out complicated.
Her next words relaxed him, however not completely. Sure, that's what she said, and she seemed a truthful person.. ish. She hadn't told the entire truth, but she didn't seem to have outright lied to him yet, and he respected the ability to be able to do that. It wasn't something he had anywhere near perfected, so settled himself with being a rather honest person. A lighter wind passed over the rooftop, and he lazily re-opened his eyes, satisfied with the information he had. It was basic, so far, but he knew her name and an outline of where she was from and why she was here. Also that she had a target, possibly in Suna, possibly not, that depended.
"Me?" He said softly, at her question. "It's a habit." He said vaguely, waving his hand as an expression of 'whatever'. Kazhe didn't particularly feel like explaining it, or anything of his homelife to Kaede-chan until she said something of significance that he could work with. "It's something..," the boy struggled to find the right words as he thought about what he could say about his habit of watching his father at the sake shop that wouldn't get her to ask very many questions regarding the matter. "Personal, I think you could say." He said, finally deciding on his word, though not completely content with his choice, it was the best he could come up with. "Something that would be complicated, and troublesome, to explain to you." Kazhe explained slowly, as if explaining it to himself. "Sorry." He apologized, his voice soft and a little scratchy.

(OOC: I love writing, too! I mean, my RPs here are far from my best... it's quite a pressure to have to post so quickly and appropriately, you know?)
Kaede made a satisfied expression. Ninja were troublesome people to deal with; no one was without their share of secrets.
With one last glance to Suna's white sun, Kaede crouched down and settled herself Indian-style on the rooftop, her arms acting as a brace as she leaned back lazily, thankful at last in finding a safe place to rest. She cocked her head to the side, intrigued by Kazhe's newfound mysteries.
She thought for a moment.
"Family troubles, I bet," she suggested innocently. "Always is."
She thought back to her previous life, to her family, to Kumo, her home, and to her name. Things had gotten so messed up in such a hurry. No wonder she snapped in the end…
"A liquor shop rooftop, you, alone…" she dropped her eyes to her lap. "Family things are always as specific." She stirred in her position, and to her surprise, felt the tip of a trickster's smirk travel across her cheeks. "Unless, of course, there's a girl involved."

Yuchii walked around mindlessly in the streets of Suna. She was tired and sick of walking around. She didn't have a home though. She was from the Leaf Village but came to Suna for vacation and so far it was lame. She climbed into a tree and stared blankly out sky. She tied her long, black hair into a ponytail with a white ribbon. Her red eyes shined brightly in th sunlight.
She crouched down in the tree. She felt a bit tired but didn't sleep. She had the money to go to a hotel but this wasn't where her home was so if she were to spend all the money she had brought with her...what would she do then?
She sighed unhappily. So far her vacation was horrible. She got off the tree and started walking around. Then she noticed an area with a couple of trees. She walked around the area hoping to be able to find something to take away her boredom. She wished climbed into another tree and wished she had never had her horrible past. If only her past was different she might have been happy now. Flashbacks flooded into her head of what happened to her and tears filled to the brim in her eyes. She held them back and soon the tears dried. It never looked like there were tears in her eyes.
She stayed in the tree and than she noticed two presences close by. She silently put an emotionless expression on and hopped to a different tree. She noticed a guy and a girl talking. She thought, "I think they like each other." She sat on a tree branch hoping they wouldn't sense that she was there.
(OOC: sorry I know this is lame but I can't think of much more right now cause my brain is fried.)

[OOC;; it's really no problem. You're plenty fast enough in your replies, and I like them. They're tasty<3 :3 && fun to reply to. x) && Also, I'm sorry this took so long.. I'm at my dad's until Monday morning, so these will take longer than usual. .___.'' x.x]
Kaede sat down; Kazhe continued to stand, though is stance relaxed greatly. It would be much easier for her to attack him in a standing position, he was fine. The expression on the boy's face was still something of indifference, though his eyes held a tinge of confusion at her talking to him still, and curiousity about her. When she spoke up about his predicament, his eyes widened without his wanting them to. Kazhe caught himself, and within a second settled himself again, hating her for the brief moment. So she was right, but what did she really know of it? "You're bright, as well," He murmured the compliment softly, closing his eyes, "it would seem you're right about that. It's a family matter." He confirmed, his head nodding slightly forward, his electric blue bangs falling over his face as he thought for a moment.
She spoke a second time, and he was fine with it, until the last statement she made. He was a bit surprised, not finding himself in the least bit that way. Right now, the thoughts of a relationship like that were no where near dwelling in his mind. "No," He said calmly, raising his head, looking straight at Kaede. "There's no girl." He tipped his head in an almost confused manner. "Why would you..?" He started to question, before it hit him; of course. Either Kaede-chan was joking with him, or else she was taking the fact that he was above a sake store, alone, and twisting it around in her thoughts. The boy was slightly frazzled now, feeling an awkward rush of stupidity flow over him as well as one of embarrasment, something he couldn't get over when things pertaining to the opposite sex were mentioned. His cheeks, he could feel them tinging light pink, and he felt rather hot for a moment before he calmed himself down, feeling a bit stupid, his eyes finding themself watching the rooftop for signs of.. anything. For the next few moments, he wouldn't look over towards Kaede.
A reason was given to him as his gaze turned from the rooftops and from Kaede into the scenery of the city beyond him. He first caught sense of a foreign chakra he wasn't unsure of, then noticed the form, sitting in a tree. His gaze hardened slightly, wondering how long the girl had been there, but he only made a soft scowl and turned away, unconsciously reaching into his kunai holster to pull out one of his weapons, holding the familiar kunai knife in his fingers, twirling it idly as he waited for the girl to do something. His gaze turned to Kaede-chan, and he made a smooth gesture for her to look over, before rolling his eyes. He was taking precautions against a girl he could probably fight against, and win, especially if Kaede-chan chose to fight with him. What fear should he have?
After deciding upon that, Kazhe turned his stance slightly, facing her direction, and lazily flung the kunai from between his fingers towards the tree, allowing it to embed itself deep in the wood a few inches or so away from the girl's shoulder. His voice was louder than normal as it carried across the winds, his green gaze locked on her, his electric blue locks swirling in a mess of colours and expressions. "You shouldn't hide yourself like that. It'll make me think you don't want me to know you're there. You're almost making yourself an enemy to me. Please come out." His voice was even, tinged with annoyance at an intrudance, and he sighed. He had wanted something different to happen, but really, one girl was enough for a day!

Yuchii sat quietly until a kunai flew at her and almost embedded itself in her shoulder. She growled softly. They were attacking her and all she did was sit in a tree. Her eyes flashed red with anger. She glared at the two and huffed. She jumped off the branch and landed gently on her feet and scowled at him. Then she glared at the other girl and took out a kunai. These people chose to attack her and she was mad. Rage boiled up inside her as her chakra increased. She was really mad now. She gave the boy who threw the kunai at her an icy glare. She knew he probably wanted to be alone with the other girl since it seemed like he liked her but all she did was sit in a tree! She didn't interrupt any of ther lovey-dovey time. Finally after a few silent moments she asked angrily, "What do you want?" She held the kunai in a tight grip inside her hand waiting for one of them to answer.

Post by Kaede on Sept 9, 2007 21:20:40 GMT -5
Kaede bit her lip to hold back a smile as she watched Kazhe react to her last statement. It was amusing to watch him grow awkward like that… his pink cheeks, the minimal eye contact…
It's almost kind of—
Kaede froze and caught her own thoughts. She was about to continue on to "cute", but stopped herself with a short, but violent shake of her head. Who was she kidding? There just wasn't room for those kinds of things anymore.
Suddenly, Kaede felt a tingling of the senses, a warning of sorts, an alarm. Looking up, she noticed Kazhe's change as well. His eyes stayed deadly focused on something in the city behind her, his visage a slight scowl of suspicion. She watched as his hand moved back towards his kunai holster—this time removing a weapon. Then he made a slight nod in Kaede's direction to catch her attention, and then quickly back to where his gaze had fallen. Someone was spying on them.
Catching the hint, Kaede nodded and hid her hands once more beneath her shadowy black cloak, her right hand lifting a single knife from its belt, ready for an attack. Slowly and delicately, she rose and stepped beside the emerald-eyed shinobi, prepared to commence her own attack if necessary.
For a moment, she felt lucky to have Kazhe by her side.
She remained silent and focused on the distant figure as Kazhe shouted a warning and a command for identification, flinging a kunai dangerously close to the intruder's head as a symbol of his seriousness and a sample of his skill.
Whoever the stranger was, she was not happy with that.
As obvious rage began to flood the hiding girl, Kaede raised her chin in defense and held tighter to her kunai. The girl did the same.
"What do you want?" she shouted.
Kaede raised an eyebrow and looked to Kazhe in a did-she-just-say-what-I-think-she-just-said kind of way. Arrogance was not on her list of happy values.
"It's polite to introduce one's self before antagonizing another," Kaede called back. "And I believe that you were asked a question."
But Kaede's tone was not mean, nor was it spiteful. She was merely not feeling up to this kind of thing at the moment.
"Explain yourself."

Yuchii glared more and finally put her kunai away and thought, "No use fighting them...they'll probably just waste my time..." Her eyes glowed more red and her chakra was increasing.
She glared at both of them. They attacked her first and thought she was being rude!! She just sat in a tree, she wasn't interested in them flirting. Then she decided to say something so she said, "Who I am is none of your business. What I was doing was trying to nap in a tree before your boyfriend attacked me. I'm not interested in your stupid flirting. All I want to do is stay in the stupid tree. If you don't like it than move because I'm not moving."
She glared at them once more and said, "I explained myself now you explain yourself. And don't think you can boss me around...I take orders from no one..." She kept glaring at them and kept her face emotionless.
