'You think you can hurt me now,' Kaito called out as the sound of the second explosion echoed across the arid landscape. Izanagi pulled the knot on the bandages on his wounded shoulder taught with his free hand and his teeth, ignoring him. He had cleaned the bleeding injury with some fresh - if warm - water from a canteen attached to the front of his belt. The complete dressing was on the small side and rushed, but it was the best he could do with the few minutes he had given himself. Either way it would stop the wound from getting any dirtier, and would suffice until he could spend some more time on it in peace.
'Run away if you're scared. If not then face me like a true warrior!'
Izanagi couldn't ignore the crazed fool any longer. He was talking about being a 'true' warrior now. As if he had any right to be spouting drivel like that. He got to his feet and drew his weapon once again with a little sigh; he disliked using his blade on the mentally challenged, but whatever. He was positioned directly behind the same stone effigy he was sat on before the fight had broke out. It was tall, but it was covered in imperfections and jutting ledges, so it wouldn't be difficult to scale at speed. Going around it would be expected and left him little in the way of attacking options. He looked up and stared at the statue for a moment, the pink sky beyond it was steadily darkening.
An aerial assault it was. And he already had an idea.
He crouched and fired himself into the air soundlessly, grabbing a ledge with his weaponless hand and launching himself to another further up. Within seconds he was once again atop the half buried shinobi memorial, looking down on Kaito as he stumbled about madly, searching for his opponent with blood leaking from numerous wounds about his punished and strained body. Izanagi was through trying to comprehend how and why he was still standing, never mind conscious. But the fool had started this fight, and Izanagi was going to finish it one way or the other.
He fished inside the pack on his hip and produced his last explosive tag. He unraveled it, muttered something under his breath and stuck it to the statue's head beneath him where he was crouched. Slowly the edges began to fizz and burn. Wasting no time, he pulled a kunai from his holster and gripped it tight in his off hand; it would serve as a second close-combat weapon alongside his Inuukubi knife. He counted down to himself. Then jumped high into the air.
The tag exploded violently, utterly destroying the top half of the statue and sending heavy debris raining in all direction. More importantly, it caused an obscuring cloud of disintegrated stone. Gravity kicked in and Izanagi plunged toward the earth and his target, no doubt shaken and disorientated from the blast and shrapnel, his descent shrouded by the smoke and debris cloud. This plan would either work perfectly and allow him to land a killing blow from above, or work adequately enough to allow him to get near his stunned opponent and engage in hand-to-hand combat. Regardless, he would soon find out.
