Miki sat on a nearby bench, once again worrying. It seemed that lately, she’d been worrying about too many things to say.
Her thoughts ranged from what her peers thought about her, to her not-so-close future.
Most thoughts consisted of her coming entrance into adulthood. Although adulthood was years away, in her mind, it seemed fearfully close.
Every night she dreaded going to sleep, because she knew that each time she opened her eyes to a new day meant another day closer to becoming an adult.
She would’ve given just about anything in the world for her life to just freeze in this time period, right now. Right now, she had friends she never thought she would ever get. She felt as if her life was perfect right now. She was finally away from her disapproving parents, too!
Unreasonable thoughts for a girl her age filled her mind. Questions such as, will I ever get married? What if I become a 60 year old hermit living with 30 cats? What if I turn into an ugly old prune and no one likes me? What if my friends hate me when I’m older?
The questions were enough to make her shiver and want to crawl into a hole to cry her heart out for all eternity.
Part of her felt paranoid for thinking these idiotic thoughts, but another part of her kept ranting about them.
She always had a quite fragile sate of mind and with bad self-esteem, but combined with these ridiculous worries was enough to break down her sanity slowly. Luckily she had friends to keep her sane.
The thought of her loss of logical thoughts was enough to bring tears into the poor girl’s eyes.
Ren stared worriedly at her purple haired friend, who seemed more and more depressed lately.
Every thought in her mind had revolved around boys and being liked, but by the time she noticed her friend’s saddening behavior, it was too late to attempt to try and fix the problem in a few easy steps.
Truth be told, she’d rather focus on the present than have to worry about anything in the past or future. She had her fair share of bad luck, but at least her parents supported the things she loved, unlike Miki’s parents. Parents who always put Miki down about everything and compared her attempts to make them proud to other people’s successes.
When Ren thought more deeply about it, she wanted to be a support to help make Miki happy, like she wanted to do for everyone else whom she thought seemed sad. The thought of anyone in the world unhappy was enough to make her heart break, but quite frankly, she knew she couldn’t help everyone in such a large universe.
She’d dragged Miki outside, in hopes to revive her friend’s loss of happiness through sunshine and fresh air, although her plan was dramatically failing. The thought made an anime sweatdrop roll down her head, but sadly she didn’t know everything about how to cheer people up. Other than thoughts of the brightly shining sun, she hoped perhaps there was a slim chance that Miki would meet someone who’d be able to raise her happiness meter.
Ren, on the other hand, already had someone special occupying her every thought....or most of her thoughts.
She twirled her hair between her pointer finger and thumb, like she always did when she was nervous, and frowned in a pouty way, trying to think.
Ren was shaken out of her thoughts by the soft voice of Miki. She felt blank-minded for a second and asked, “Huh?” before remembering the innocent question and quickly relying, “Oh! Not much, Miki-chan!”
A thought passed her mind, causing a slightly mischievous grin to grow on her face. “say...Miki-chan...how would you like to meet some people?”
Miki felt a bit surprised by the sudden question, but she nodded slightly. She assumed that these were people Ren knew, and from her friendship with the happy blue-haired girl, she knew the majority of people Ren met were nice.
The slight nod was enough for Ren to spot. Hyperly, she yanked Miki up and started dragging her by the arm towards the crowds of people in Konoha.
