Kyokki held Naito's gaze for a minute. Then she looked down at the cracks in the cement.

"Hey, sorry," she apologized, "I didn't mean to offend anyone."

She looked over the three of them again.

"Hey, do you guys wanna go do something? Or maybe get something to eat? My treat, since I'm inviting all of you."

Naito hung his head in shame he had just made a complete fool of himself and said "No it is not proper alow me to pay"Hikari said "We can get somthing to eat if you like there are alot of places around here"at that moment Aishiteru's stomach began to growl she blushed and she felt it in her face and said "ummm anywhere sound good if you want to eat"

"We'll spit half and half, equal, okay?" Kyokki compromised in a way that left no room for debate, " I'm starving. Anywhere I can get a milkshakes sounds great. As weird as it sounds, I'm craving a green tea milkshake. I don't know where to go, so you guys lead the way. 'Kay Naito-san?" She offered a friendly smile at hi, not knowing excatly what had gotten into him.

They nodded and naito said "isnt there umm that new food shop down the street" hikari nodded and said yea it is this way" he walked towards it naito took Aishiteru on his back and he began to walk after his brotherAishiteru said "yay lets eat" she wasnt usally that excited but she was really hungry at the moment and couldnt help it

Kyokki let the three lead her down the street to the quiet, half-empty restaurant.

Amakari no Kafe it was called, Salty-Sweet Cafe. The words were painted across the window in bold golden kanji.

She walked in trailing slightly behind the others and followed quietly as the waitress, a small, pretty, teen-age girl who, according to her name tag, was named "Namie" and who kept eyeing Aishiteru's brothers. suddenly Kyokki was feeling shy again.

She slid into the booth that was offered to them, and waited for the others to sit.

Aishiteru sat down and asked for a brail menu she ran her fingers over the the bumps she said "I will take a thing of tea with ramen" the person behind the counter she couldnt see handed her tea she bowed and said "what is wrong she asked Kyokki Naito sat down and oredered the same as his siter and Hikari ordered a green tea milkshake he was curious

"I'll have the same thing as him," Kyokki ordered, nodding at Hikari, "and an Uiro cake, if that's okay." She handed the folded menu back to the waitress, who was still smiling and staring at Hikari. Mentally she chuckled.

Then she turned to Aishiteru.

"I'm fine, Ashiteru-san," she said, and then, to change the subject, "did you hear about that Valentines Dance/Pary/Whatever? The hostess has certainly put out enough flyers. I hate Valentines."

Hikari took a sip and smiled he actually liked it and then drank some more and said "Ehhh love is over rated any way if you want to hind it go jump off a cliff since you find it alot quicker when your in a comma" Naito shot a look at his brother saying"Love is all around all you have to do is look" Aishiteru said "Love is just somthing that you have to find and be patient with"

"It's there, for sure," Kyokki agreed, "but it's super selective. So far I've never been on the "accepted" list either. Plus, Valentines has always seemed like some kind of marketing scam. You know how much florists must make off of this day? Though I can't say I ever been on the receiving end all that often- maybe once when I was, like, 12 and my Dad gave me carnations.

My Aunt hates the "holiday" more than I do. 29 years of seeing everyone else with presents didn't exactly help her mental state, I guess. So on Valentines day we'd always hide out in the apartment in Kinu no Kuni, and sleep in as late as possible, which was normally about noon. Then we'd get up, throw on something non-red and pink, in bachan's case almost always black, and put on what bachan always called the 'angry CD'. It was a mix CD with at least 20 tracks, and all the tracks were anti-romantic J-Rock and foriegn rock. Nobody mentioned flowers, chocolate, or the V-Word.

I guess I'd probably love Valentines if I ever had an actual, well you know, a valentine. But like I said, even if love exists, it's elective. And I'm missing some requirement."

She took a sip of her milkshake, and then ended her rant with an apology and a question.

"Sorry, guess I got carried away. I guess you guys have probably had a better time with it than me and my anti-social ex-gaurdian?"

Aishiteru felt bad she didnt like her name now she had been named after the mark on her arm that was in the shap of a heart Hikari chuckled though and said "lets see I use to think it was great when I atleast got noticed but ever since I got these scars every girl runs naito is lucky though he never gets scared except for in a few places that are hardly noticable I guess thats why he gets all of the valentines from girls"Naito shoot him a dark glare sure girls liked him but they hated him when he acted himself so he just shook it off and said "Just a bunch of girls who dont see threw the fog"

"Hey, sorry Ai-chan. No offense. Do you mind if I call you that? It's shorter than your full name, but if you wanty me to drop it, I will."

Kyokki didn't even notice she had added the "chan" on, which testified to how much more she trusted this family than other people she had met. After all, she had only known them for less than an hour, and here she was, a normally shy girl, spilling her guts.

"I'd very much like to hear the fog story, Naito."

Aishiteru heard her and said "Sure I dont mind is it ok if I call you kkchan" she smiled and naito said "Well I meet a girl in the hidden mist is all and she liked me at first but once she saw me threw the fog she left me even though I had seen her"he took some tea and drank it he looked at her and said "once girls see threw the fog they leave me"

Kyokki agreed with Ai-chan, and cocked an eyebrow at Naito's story. She wasn't excatly sure what he had meant by, "once girls see threw the fog they leave me". With her confusion showing on her face, she told him as much.

"Besides," she continued after a sip of her shake, "why a girl want to leave you? You seem like a pretty good guy to me. Unless I happen to be one of those girls."

Naito looked a her saying "people cant see much like what peoples anger is like what hate feels like I seem nice but if I grow mad it is like the fog lifts from there eyes"
Aishiteru said "Naito you arnt that bad when your mad you are just scarry somtimes"Hikari agreed even he had seen naito mad it scared him

"Oh," Kyokki said simply, unsure what else to say. She didn't know what excatly was expected of her for this turn in converation, so she kept quiet.

Music started to play from the antique-looking juke box in the corner, as someone put a quarter in the slot and selected a surprisingly modern rock song.

Kyokki shivered at the lyrics and the female vocalist's soothingly aching tone. Somehow she thought she had heard it before. As she looked at Ai-chan to see if the younger girl had the same reaction, she heard the stranger who had chosen the song say to his female friend, "That's Mikiri-hime's song, "Scream" playing. She's pretty awesome."

Sure, Kyokki thought, with lyrics about a death god killing a heavenly maiden who she's calling big sister.
