Mocking Nest

[Kira]

Katsuo was a bit surprised and before he could even register what happened and stop himself, he reached out and held Keiko's arm, helping her balance herself out.
He blurted out, "Are you okay?" He was surprised that he even cared, since he'd seen a lot of people trip and fall before, but never bothered to help them.

Keiko was happy that she didn't need to meet the floor, thanks to Katsuo. She balanced herself out and then smiled at him, a blush playing about her face.

"Stupid things... like that." she muttered, half to herself, and half to him. "I do lot's of stupid things like that." This time, she chuckled at herself, fo being a blonde at heart.

"Thanks," she added hastily, the blush deepening.
She looked back at the root and made a note to kick it the next time she saw it, and hopefully not trip.

[Kira]

Katsuo gave a tiny, un-noticable smile.
"No problem..." he replied. He noticed Keiko was blushing and wondered why. He looked at her and finally asked, "Why are you blushing Keiko?"
He hoped he hadn't made her feel awkward or anything, for some reason, he felt more and more curious about what type of person Keiko was.

Keiko was brushing herself off when he asked his question.

She was actually quite stumped as to why he would ask such a stupid, and obvious question. She gave him a wide-eyed stare and said, "I tripped."

Then, she shook her head. "You know, most girls blush when they trip. Especially in front of guys. Cute or otherwise."

[Kira]

Katsuo shrugged. He just felt like asking something. Most of the time, he just couldn’t understand girls, so he stopped trying to figure them out. He could never understand why girls were always thinking weird thoughts.
Kira’s advice to him was, “Stop trying to figure out girls, it’ll just make your brain hurt.”
Surprisingly he took the advice when what she said actually happened. He figured a girl’s mind was not meant for a guy to figure out.
When he returned from his thoughts, his only reply was a shoulder shrug.

Keiko found herself frowning after Katsuo shrugged. She couldn't help feeling that what she said might of implied that he was stupid. ((OOC: WARNING Read next sentence slowly))She hoped that was not what he thought she thought of him.

"Uhm, ok. Was there any other reason you asked that?"

Part of her wished that there was another reason Katsuo asked the question, but part of her figured there was not.

[Kira]

Katsuo shrugged again. "Not really, just curious..." he replied.
He was never one to talk much so the fact that he was with a girl that wasn't Kira or any of the girls in his group of friends made him feel a tiny bit awkward.
He had just met the Keiko and was just getting to know her, so he would most likely rely on her keeping the conversation going. He couldn't think of what to say after his reply, so he kept silent to avoid blurting out anything that might be stupid.

Keiko continued to walk aimlessly with him for a minute silently, before she thought of a question.

"So, what do you do for fun?" she asked, staring up at the dark blue sky that was now dotted with stars here and there.

She hoped that she and Katsuo shared something in common so they could talk more, because she was not liking the silence.

[Kira]

Katsuo thought it about it for a moment and realized he actually didn't have anything that he liked to do for fun.
Katsuo replied "I don't think I've ever done anything for fun before...I train a lot or just hang around with some friends, what about your likes?"
It was probably the most he had said to Keiko since he had been walking with her.

[keiko]

Keiko was only a little surprised by Katsuo's answer.

"Well, I draw, write, read, do other artsy stuff. I don't train a lot, but I do get out there some."

She realized that they may have nothing in common, and she was sad.

"Back in the wood, I was trying to draw a nest. It was unbelievably hard. It was mocking me."

She giggled a little bit at the end, but otherwise couldn't think of anything else to say.

[Kira]

Katsuo wasn't exactly surprised. He rarely saw anyone with the same interests as himself. He also wasn't surprised, because when he saw Keiko, she looked pretty frustrated when she was drawing the nest. He was a bit interested. "A nest?"
He had never tried drawing before, but what she said about the nest and drawing it, made it seem like a challenge, and he liked challenges. He knew he would never pick up drawing a hobby because it was too peaceful for him. He'd rather train because it was more of a physical thing, but a challenge on the other hand, made him feel determined. He was always up for a challenge, whther it was a hobby he liked or not.
"Would you like to go back to the nest and try drawing it again?" he asked Keiko, feeling curious himself, as to how much of a challenge the drawing the nest would be.

[keiko]

Keiko nodded. "Yes, a nest. Quite challenging, they are."

She was a tad bit curios about why he was asking about the nest. She hoped he wouldn't say that her hobbies were stupid, or boring, because that would've made her angry. She was thankful that he seemed to want to go back.

"Uhm, well," she began, looking at the sky, as it was now sprinkled with stars. "We could, but I don't think I'd have much luck, seeing as the lighting is pretty much gone. But if you want to, I guess..."

[Kira]

Katsuo looked up at the night sky and mumbled "Well, the darkness isn't much help, so do you want to me there tomorrow?"
He finally looked down from the sky to look forward. He never made plans, but he was willing to keep this one because he still wanted to find out a bit more about Keiko and the nest made him curious to see how detailed the nest actually was.

[keiko]

Keiko looked at him. "So, you want to draw it, eh?" she said, with a small laugh. She doubted he could really pull it off, but she liked that he saw it as a challenge, and that he looked sort of determined.

"I could meet you tomorrow, sure." she added. "See you around 9." And with that she turned away from him and began walking to her house.

~Next Morning~

Katsuo headed towards the tree, where the nest was...but he wasn't alone.

Kira was with him, because when he was ready to go in the morning, Kira had suspected something, of course, he insisted he was just visiting a friend, Kira started teasing him, and it wound up with her going with Katsuo to meet his new friend.

As they neared the area, Katsuo thought about asking Kira to draw the nest instead, since she was a pretty good artist. but decided she would see the challenge and try to draw it anyways, so he wouldn't have to ask her.
As he predicted, Kira was immediately up for the challenge, as she sat down to try and draw the nest using the notepad and pencil she brought along, he leaned against a tree, waiting for Keiko.
