The rising sun glimmered through the thick, leafy trees, it's rays reflecting across the watery dew gracing the browning leaves. A few birds chirped as they awoke from the nights sleep before taking flight into the crisp blue sky.
Wincing as the sun blinded her, Ikara slowly opened her eyes. Her vision was blurry as her eyes refocused, adjusting to the bright conditions. Stretching her arms and arching her back as she yawned, Ikara looked around her, dazed and confused. She must have fallen asleep by the lakeside. Again.
This was becoming an all to familiar habit of hers. Ever since she'd decided to spend a few weeks of rest and relaxation in the fire village of Konoha, she found herself enticed to watch the sunsetting and the moon rising by the lakeside in the woods.
It was one of the most relaxing places in the village; a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the thriving town. She couldn't blame herself for falling asleep in the tranquility. She certainly got a better rest here than she did in the hotel room.
Crawling over to the side of the lake, Ikara unlaced her black, knee-high ninja sandals and placed her bare feet in the icy water, falling onto her back and resting her head on her hands. She stared peacefully towards the sky.
Letting out a sigh, she hoped that noone would disturb her, but knowing her bad luck, they probably would

[OOC - Deb-chan! Ok if i join in? Hideaki slammed his textbook shut, sighing. He'd come to the woods to find peace to study the previous evening as his courteous neighbours decided to host what they claimed to be a small social gathering. Hideaki had seen less people and noise at a rave. Was it too little to ask for a little quieting down without receiving a mouthful of cursing and abuse. It was moments like this he had wished he'd taken up the life of a ninja. Not only could he swiftly knock out the source of this rare aggravation but he'd also get a nice house in the centre of the village. Only the non ninja families lived in his outskirt estate. There were some families like his own which had a shinobi parent whilst the offspring tread different paths in life. But Hideaki had his own dreams and expectations to live up to. He would step out his brothers shadow even if it took him to his deathbed. He knew he shouldn't be so competitive but all families had sibling rivalries; academics was just Kenta and himselfs spat. Kenta of course was blissfully unaware he was in competition with his brother. He had other, more pressing matters to deal with such as the birth of his first child looming on the horizion; Yue, a once slender and athletic woman now looking like she was about to give birth to a herd of small elephants. He rested the rather heavy book on the ground, forcing himself to his feet and stretched; it was morn already, at most 6 or 7 am. He had never stayed out all night before, at least not literally. Yes he had pulled allnighters at parties, raves and drinking sessions in the clubs but never before had he actually slept outside. As he realigned his back, Hideaki noticed something out of the corner of his eye. A young girl lying on the grass, legs in the icy water of the lake. Curious as to whether she was simply seeking relaxation or genuinely in trouble, Hideaki approached her. "Excuse me miss; are you ok?" He asked with an almost chivalrous tone in his voice. The girl was a striking beauty as far as he could see with silky hair which was just a shade or two darker than his reddish auburn. He pondered why she kept half her face hidden with her bangs; he'd never understood girls who preffered to shy away and hide their natural beauty from the world. From her attire, he could tell instantly she was a ninja. Her clothes was not styled for fashion nor comfort; they were for practicallity. The suna logo emblazed on the tongue of her custom sandals told him this; her outfit was designed to keep her cool in the intense heat of the blazing suna sun; following the Konoha fashions would result in serious overheat. Rather impatiently, he asked her again "Excuse me miss; are you ok?" His voice slightly raised incase she hadn't heard him. He crouched down to her level so as to get a closer look.

Eyes closed and senses heightened, Ikara felt a tremor quiver across the ground. Someone was approaching; from the feel of the juddering, she estimated the stranger to be around 6ft; taller than her by a long shot at least. Her sanctuary had been invaded and her tranquillity disturbed. Perhaps if she lay silent and kept her eyes closed, the inquisitive stranger would think her asleep and leave her be.
Excuse me Miss, are you ok?
The voice was gentle and unassuming, that of a young man with no shinobi experience. No man, or woman for that matter, could live the ghastly and horrific life of a ninja and remain sounding so pure, so virtuous. Children trained as soulless murderers, their fragile lives corrupted before they had even begun.
Still she stayed silent but the young man wasn’t going to give up easily and he posed the question once more.
Excuse me Miss, are you ok?
His voice grew louder towards the end of the sentence, as though he had gotten closer to her. She assumed he had crouched or knelt on the grassy clearing.
He was here to stay and there was no getting out of this confrontation.
Ikara opened her eyes with a degree of reluctance, eyes fixated on the coffee-coloured eyes gazing back at her.
“You’re blocking my sunlight….” She informed him emotionlessly, eyelids half lowered and the awe-eyed gaze transformed into a fractious glare. She sat bolt upright and brushed her hair behind her left ear, the sandy brown strands falling loosely over her shoulder. She was lying of course. She didn’t really care for the sun. Ironic really considering she grew up in Sunagakure, a village that acted as a permanent sun trap. Her skin had adjusted to the temperature of the cold water and she had almost forgotten her feet were still submerged. She rolled backwards, pulling her legs out of the lake and water splashed all over. “Now what do you want?” Now standing up and towering over her visitor, Ikara folded her arms. Her voice was harsh and impatient and depending on his answer would determine how her next answer would be delivered.
She had been untrusting of people, particularly men, for a long time now and a kind and gentle voice was not going to make her drop her guard; if anything, it would make her doubly cautious. People put on a nice façade when they wanted something and the minute they got it, they would stab you in the back and turn back into the vicious snakes that all humans were deep inside.

A small smile spread across Hideaki’s lips as the girl woke up, an icy blue eye staring up at him. For a few brief seconds, she seemed to be so innocent, surely not a kunoichi. But Hideaki knew better than to trust first impressions as he childlike stare transformed into a cold glare in a flash.
You’re blocking my sunlight The cold and composed voice sent shivers down his spine. How could a girl, especially one who looked so gentle, be so distanced from people and society?
“Oh….my apologies….” Hideaki bowed to her, crawling back out of her way. He had barely moved when a foot almost struck him across the face as she flipped back out of the water. Cold droplets splashed his cheek as she stood back up.
Hideaki looked up at her, pondering the answer to the question she posed. What did he want actually? Nothing in particular sprung to mind but he had always been far too friendly and approached people too easily.
”…um….it was nothing really….” He stammered, sounding a little shy. “I just wanted to make sure you were ok.”

Ikara was rather touched by his genuine concern; this disgusted her no end. Even though it was likely not his intention, she felt like she was being pitied on. Some day, she hoped someday soon, feelings like that wouldn't exist and she'd learn to accept that some people just were genuinely nice. But until that day came, she was cautious of every living thing. With transformation jutsu becoming more advanced, even the tree she rested in after training could be disguising an army of enemy shinobi.
Shaking her head at such ludicrous thoughts, Ikara turned her back to the man crouching down beside her.
She tried to keep a serious and cold exterior but she couldn't. It had been a long time since she was able to act like her old self and with each and every passing day, she found herself opening up to people more and more.
"Listen..." She sighed, turning back to face him. Forcing herself to give him a coy smile, she rested her hands in her shorts pockets, "Ignore me.....im grouchy when i wake up.....forgive me?" She looked right in his eyes before quickly looking away, blushing slightly, a small smirk playing on her lips.

Hideaki could only laugh at the dramatic change in personality of his young companion.
He watched in both bewilderment and amusement as her tough-as-nails facade completely collapsed all around her. He could tell from her actions that once upon a time, this wasn't an act but something had softened her heart a little.
Standing up, he approached her, still cautious that her moodswings could become more deadly.
"Course I'll forgive you," He smiled sweetly, "How could anyone not forgive such a cute little girl!"
He towered over the girl; looking at her, she couldn't be any more than 14 or 15. Such a shame as she was a very pretty young lady but he never dated anyone under the legal age. He was a bit of a flirt, but he certainly wasn't a pervert.

Ikara's eye twitched at being called 'such a cute little girl'. She gritted her teeth and clenched a fist.
"I'm 18......." She hushed with a low growl. "....bad mistake you made there...." She smirked, reaching her hand up slowly towards his head. Once upon a time, she would have knocked him out cold and pulverised him.
But she was feeling quite calm and collected today. Tapping his cheek gently, she smiled "Old man...."
Still looking coyly at him, she felt her stomach rumble. She hoped he hadn't heard it and clutched it with both hands. It had been at least 18 hours since she'd last eaten. Things had distracted her and food was no longer a priority.
"Breakfast?" She looked up at him willfully, hoping he'd agree. She was skint and she had to con someone into buying her food. Perhaps if she blushed and batted her eyelids a few more times she'd get some free food.
"Oh, I'm Ikara Hyukari," She smiled; a genuine smile this time. Perhaps she'd finally found a companion she could let her guard down with.

(OOC: Anyone mind if I join in? Haven't RP-ed in a while.)
Kyo was walking through the woods barefoot, carrying her black standard ninja sandals, wandering in the general direction of her favorite place to just go and daydream, or watch the effects of the sun on the clear, shimmering lake right by her favorite tree to perch in.
The tree was named Lilac, for no particular reason at all. It was just a regular, leafy green tree. She had been coming there since she was very little, her older brother, Haru, would take her to that very spot. She always loved to come there, but she had been neglecting visiting her 'spot' for a while now.
Her keen senses picked up one or two people up ahead, by the lake. She mentally groaned, and peered around her tree, seeing two people by the lake. She sighed quietly, she usually liked the place to herself. Kyo really was a social butterfly, but was really nervous around new people, which is probably a good thing.
She really didn't want to approach them first, so she just climbed swiftly up into Lilac, searching for the mark she made so many years ago. She ran her fingers over the carving in the tree, which read, "Haru. Kyoko. Taru." She smiled. 'It was before I started calling myself Kyo, I see,' she thought. She and her siblings had carved this years ago, when Kyo was....Four, maybe. Now, she was approaching her fifteenth birthday, in a little over two weeks. She grinned, and turned away from the carving to look at the glittery lake, reflecting the rising sun.

Hideaki felts slightly nervous as the young girl raised a hand to him. Despite her small stature, her abilities as a kunoichi would mean that she could beat him in a fight any day. He could only smile as what seemed to have been a full-forced slap turned into a playful tap.
"And who might you be calling 'old man'?" He grinned, ruffling her hair gently "I'm only 21" He gave a quiet laugh.
He noticed another young girl enter the area but for the time being, he chose to ignore her. He was too entranced by his young companion and her subtle hints for him to buy her food. "Well then...." he decided to play up to her hinting, "Would you like to go get a coffee or something then? I'll buy!" He smiled. "Oh, and my name's Hideaki!"
He felt slightly guilty at ignoring the other girl; he didn't even know her and here he was letting his conscience get the better of him.
"Give me a minute...." He whispered to Ikara, and walked cautiously over to the other girl. In a village full of ninja, he was constantly on alert. He had found appearances to be deceptive and the most deadly ninja were usually the pretty ones.
"Excuse me," He called up into the tree the girl was perched on. "Are you ok?"
That seemed to be Hideaki's trademark quote. He was constantly checking other people were ok.

Kyo blinked her bright orange eyes. 'Excuse me. Are you okay?,' the guy asked her. Tensing, she studied him quickly. He was definitely not a ninja, so the threat was not great. Probably. Looks can be deceiving, so she kept her guard up.
She chose to reply. "I'm perfectly fine!," she said cheerfully. Kyo was always one to express her thoughts and emotions, even to complete strangers. "More than fine, actually. I absolutely love this precise spot. The way the lake glitters in the morning is just...Beautiful!" She scanned the scene once again, her face breaking into a grin. She wasn't really aware that she was rambling. Kyo could talk for hours on end, if need, or want, for that matter, be.
"In my opinion, this very tree is the best place to watch the sunrise or the sunset," she continued. "My little brother named the tree 'Lilac' when he was little, and I brought him here. Lilac was his favorite word to say." She was quiet for a moment. "In fact, I think it still is...."
Kyo decided she should let him get a word in."What brings you and your friend here this morning?," she asked, averting her gaze momentarily to the girl by the lake he had been chatting with.
