Haruka sighed, boredly walking down the street to the local book store. She had been meaning to pick up a new book for awhile now, but had never found the time.
Walking into the large forier lined with books, she began picking through the shelves of the fantasy section. Finding a title that perked her interest she pulled it down and began fingering through the pages. The cover read 'Twilight.'

Kana had unzipped her jacket that she usually wore at Yukigakure. She had forgotten to take it off earlier. Kana sighed and put her hair up in a ponytail.
Must...find air conditioning... She thought drowsily to herself. She pulled herself over to the bookstore, hearing a small jingle signaling that she was going in. She leaned heavily against the wall and took off her jacket, letting the air conditioner blow at her face.
"Thank the Lord." She mumbled to herself. She slung her jacket over her shoulder and went to look at books. She stopped at a random shelf, and noticed a girl next to her looking at a book called 'Twilight'.
"Looks like a good book." Kana said quietly to the girl.

Jumping slightly at the sudden voice beside her, she turned to look at the new person in the store. "Ummm... yeah. It seems pretty good..." she said shyly. She was never good around strangers till she knew them a bit. She turned back to the shelf, still looking through the small printed words on the pages.
She looked over to the girl, nervously, hoping she wouldn't address her again.

Kana blinked slowly and turned away. It was kind of weird talking to someone who was just about as shy as her. Kana pulled out a dusty leather covered book, looked at the cover. It had no words on the front. She blew some of the dust off, but it backfired into her face, making her cough. Now the letters showed up as 'Moon and Sun'. She tilted her head and opened the first page. It didn't make any sense.
She gulped and turned to the girl. "Ah...is this in some different language or something? W-Wait, that was a stupid question, but does this look familiar to you?'

Haruka cringed as the girl spoke to her again. Looking over her shoulder at the text she saw strange lettering. "No, not really..." she said, memerized by the many symbols. Putting her own book back on the shelf, she asked, "May i see it for a moment?"
She was always curious when it came to strange books such as these. She smiled slightly at the thought of a new mystery.

Kana handed her the book right away, a little afraid she did something wrong to make the girl cringe.
"Um...did I do something to make you cringe? I'm just curious." She said as she looked over the the girl's shoulder to look at the book with her. The strange text puzzled her, and she wanted to know what it meant, and what the heck it was.
"Pretty weird book huh?"

Haruka blinked, "Oh, no. You're fine." she said quickly. Holding the book in her arms, she skimmed over it. She didn't understand a bit of it, not even with her vast lauguage knowledge. "This is so complex. I don't get any of it... strange..."
She waved her hand to the bookkeeper of the store. "Excuss me, sir?" He walked over to the two of them. "How long have you had this book in stalk?" she asked, hoping that it might give her some origin of the book.
"Ah, that's been here a long time." he answered, as it the book were nothing more than a recyclable piece of waste.

Kana scowled at the man. "You know, you're not going to get much business with that attitude, sir." She turned her head up in the air, and made a 'Mfff' sound. Kana looked at the books next to it. One of them said 'M+S Index'. She grabbed it and flipped through it. The letters from Moon and Sun matched the index, but then it translated into their language. She blinked slowly, and looked a little more closely at the book, then the index.
"I think we found our answer."

Looking back over to the second book that the girl pulled out. IT seemed almost like a translation of some kind. Looking back to the book in her own hands, she saw that the translations seemed to match the text.
"Hey, how much money do you have? Combined, we may be able to buy both of these." she smiled, happy that there was something excited going on today. Mysteries fasinated her. "Oh, i don't think i rightly introduced myself. I'm Haruka." she added quickly.

"My names Kana. And I think I have enough for the index." If she was correct, her last mission payed her nicely. She handed the store keeper the money, and took the book. "Do you have enough?" Kana asked the girl. She practically buried her head in the book. She pulled away and looked elsewhere. The text was really starting to hurt her eyes.

Digging in her pocket quickly, she pulled out her satchel of money. "I do believe so." she said with a smile. Setting the book on the counter to check it out, she paid what was owed and began flippin though the brital pages again. "Anyway, it's nice to meet you, Kana." she said, feeling a bit more comfortable. "So anywhere you know we can try to read these books?" she asked curiously.

Kana nodded and pushed through the ton of hustle and bustle, eager to read the book. She grinned when she saw her favorite spot by an old oak. Kana plopped down happily. She pulled open the book, reading the first two words.
"Judging by the words so far in the index, it's probably going to be an interesting book." She said, smiling at Haruka happily.

Following Kana through the large crowd in the streets, she was bumped quite around quite a bit. When they came to the tree, she sighed with relief. "Goodness, town's bussier today than usual..." she said, holding her pendant in her hand. Leaning on the tree, the original book in her other hand dangling at her side, she looked down at her. "Anything this mysterious is bound to be interesting." she replied, returning the smile. "So, what's it say."

"Well, the first two words say "Beyond the"...what's the third symbol in that book?" She looked over at Haruka questioningly. Kana walked over to Haruka and looked over her shoulder, waiting to see the contents of the new and mysterious book. Two words ran through her mind over and over,
Beyond the...
She smilled and waited for the other book to open, ready to flip the pages of the index.

Haruka flipped open the dusty old book, curious as to the secrets it held. Opening it to the first page, she laid it flat on her lap. Skipping the first two symbols, she laid her finger on the third. "This one, right here. What's that mean?" She looked over at the book in Kana's arms. "Goodness, i'll be lucky if my legs don't fall asleep; This book is heavy."
