Appearance: Smoky silver and light grey eyes, complimented with long ebony hair tied up gracefully into a bun and secured with two pairs of silver ornaments. Her forehead protector has been cut short of its length and was being made use as a ribbon to secure her bun. Dreadlocks fall from the sides of her face tied into thin braids and secured with small wooden beads. She wears a white long-sleeved kimono top embroidered with silk designs of a dragon and phoenix in silver thread with the sleeves having slits at both sides that ends at the elbows. Erika wears a short, white medic skirt with slits at both sides that goes all the way up. On her legs, pulled up all the way from her knees to her thighs is a short pair of fish net leggings. She wears the usual ninja shoes, but hers have silver buckles at the side to tighten them when sprinting and also a slight heel at the back to raise them a little. She stands at a height of 1.72m and is no heavier than 63kg. Around her neck, hung by a string of silver, is a small porcelain bottle pendant that carries a minute part of the scroll in it.
Personality: Erika Shinzuki. She has a rather eccentric personality. Anger and angst can trigger off her most powerful attacks while happiness and joy can catch her off guard. She believes that anything is possible, and strives to reach her goal no matter what. Behind the mask, Erika’s heart yearns and longs for love. Since young, her parents had never shown her care and concern. Therefore, she is quite a closet romantic, but never dared to show her feelings towards anyone. She uses happiness to cover up anger, and it would turn out to be rather dangerous. When both emotions of different backgrounds mix, her eyes would start to turn electric blue, and that is when the trouble starts. All in all, she's rather optimistic on the outside and strives to keep her pessimistic side under the carpet.
Background: When Erika was a child, her parents never doted on her, but more towards her two older siblings, Ai Shinzuki and Mayeko Shinzuki, who are now 19 and 23 respectively. At the age of 10, her parents sent her out to the forest to collect some berries, but along the way, Erika accidentally chanced upon a trap some hunters had set up. Badly wounded and all bloody, the hunters brought her back to
their homes and sent for a medic-nin to treat her. The medic-nin was called Jun Okinoshi. During her treatment, Erika, as a curious child, wondered how Jun performed her medical skills. From then onwards, Erika became her apprentice and learned all her skills, from healing to attacks, from her. Jun also helped to discover a technique, which only members of the Shinzuki bloodline could use. It had come to light when Jun noticed that Erika would use another emotion of a total opposite to cover up how she truly felt inside. It would trigger off a strange glow from her eyes, and the blue glow would surround her and during that time, Erika’s wounds would heal and would also increase her chakra power, speed and her strength.
Jun helped her to control her emotions, to use the attack only when necessary. So, they promised. Erika promised Jun that she would never use the Shinzuki technique, only if it was a matter between life and death, for the side effects of the technique caused a slight loss of eyesight and over exhaustion, which could lead to death.
Jun asked her to find the scroll that could help them with the technique, so Erika stole the scroll from her parents’ home and returned to Jun, determined never to return home ever again.
When Erika turned 15, Jun passed away after being brutally murdered by some S-Class criminals, in search of the scroll that concealed the techniques of the Shinzuki. At that moment, Jun had sent Erika out to buy back some groceries, and the scroll was kept safely in Erika's pocket. Knowing it wasn’t safe, Erika buried her sensei, prayed for blessings and left the village of Getsugakure No Sato, the Village Hidden under the Moon, and also taking along her sensei's weapon, a special three bladed kunai. From then on, she has been traveling from place to place, in search of answers to her questions, and also, in search of her one true love that could take care of her and give her the love she never received.
Before Jun died, she told Erika this,"Before the sun sets, tear the scroll into scraps and scatter them to the four winds. The secret technique must never be known." and with that, she passed on.
Erika did what she was told, but kept a piece of the scroll in a small porcelain bottle pendant that hung around her neck. On that piece of paper, the word 'love' is written on it, as one of the example emotions mentioned in the scroll.
