Almost forgot...Brilliant! ^-^
Name: Akira, Suzu
Age: 17
Rank: Jounin
Village: Konoha
Appearance: Instead of describing my character, I thought it would be simpler to give a link to the picture. The only difference is instead of the cloth hanging around her neck, she wears her hitai-ate. Her headband bears the symbol of Konoha because when she moved there as a Genin (explained in background) the Hokage provided her with one proclaiming her a Konoha shinobi. She still wears the hitai-ate she received from the academy graduation at Otagakure from time to time, but only when she is training alone. The small katana she wears on her back and the necklace with the blue tear-drop gem both belonged to her mother. The katana she received as a graduation gift. The necklace was the one her mother was wearing when she passed away. Suzu never takes it off.

Personality: She is calm and collected most of the time. She is fierce in battle. Though she is easily discouraged if odds are she will lose, she hides it behind a confident facade and simply pushes harder. She normally greets strange shinobi with suspicion. She trusts people easily, and it has gotten her into trouble before, so she tries to avoid placing her faith in too many people. She appears cold and uncaring about everything, but her icy exterior hides her true personality that only her closest friends are allowed to see. She doesn't mind lending a helping hand to those in need. She likes to travel, and often receives solo missions that send her to other villages.
Background: Originally from Otogakure, Suzu grew up with her loving mother. Her father was killed in an A-ranked mission when Suzu was just learning to walk. Although she wishes she had a chance to meet her father, she never mourned his passing. She was much too young to remember it. Her mother never seemed sad, either. She was always loving and kind, with a smile that warmed the heart of anyone she met. Despite her cheerful attitude, it was painfully obvious to Suzu that her mother missed her father more than she could ever understand, and she noticed a great decline in her health. Still, her mother acted as if nothing was wrong, roaming the village as beautiful as ever.
Suzu attended the academy at Otagakure and graduated with flying colors, but her mother decided that it was best for her to continue her training as a successful shinobi in a different village. After asking permission from both Kage, they settled in Konoha. Here, Suzu trained hard and became a Chuunin. Shortly afterwards, Suzu's mother died. Her failing health took its toll, and the village buried her. Suzu felt a large hole in her heart that her mother had once occupied, and she knew that it would never fill in. There was simply nothing that could replace what she had lost. She became completely devoted to her training, and vowed to become the best shinobi she could possibly be while burying away all the sorrow she felt so no one in the village would worry. She looked on the positive side, but she often visited her mother's grave, pursued by her sadness as if it were a plague.
Thanks to her hard work and dedication, she reached jounin level. She thought herself much too young and inexperienced for the rank, but accepted it with honor. Her missions are fairly simple so far, and she has found nothing more difficult than what she went through as a Chuunin. Her confidence and skill has improved greatly. She obviously isn't satisfied yet, because she hasn't reached her full potential and beyond, but she is pleased with her progress thus far.
Other: What pleases Suzu the most is that she is slowly, but surely, mastering her kekkei genkai. Her mother began training her when she entered the academy at Otagakure, and Suzu has grasped the ability with ease. After her mother's death, she continued training herself, but it was much more difficult. Still, she enjoyed exploring the unknown strength of her kekkei genkai.
It is called "Danshingu Hibiki" or Dancing Sound. (Yes, I know the name isn't great, but it's all I could think of...the translation may be a bit rough, but it'll work.) It enables her to focus a tiny bit of her chakra into the air around her and vibrate the sound. It disorients her opponent, and makes it hard to tell the difference in left, right, up, or down. They get large headaches, find it difficult to focus, and feel as if a great pressure is on them, holding them down. This ability also makes it easy to search for nearby shinobi (with a close range). She can focus on the sound of their breath, or their footsteps. She hasn't mastered Danshingu Hibiki yet, so she can't use it as well as her mother did. There are a lot of uknown things about her kekkei genkai that Suzu still needs to discover.
It doesn't require much chakra in itself. There are no neccessary hand signs, unless she wants to perform certain jutsu. The use of wires and senbon make it much easier to manipulate the sound, and she doesn't have to rely completely on her kekkei genkai. She rarely uses it in battle, due to her inexperience with it. Her mother never really sparred with her because of her growing fraility.
Although her kekkei genkai gives her these advantages, and more (such as easily mastering many sound jutsus), it has its downfalls. When simply vibrating the air around her for intimidation purposes, or such, it takes a very small amount of chakra. However, when attempting to disorient and disable the opponent, it takes a considerable amount, and severely limits the amount and types of jutsu she can use. This is why Suzu rarely uses the kekkei genkai in battles, except as a last resort. It usually allows her to pull in her victory by killing the victim or rendering them unconcious while in this state, but she has tried it only on those of equal or lower rank than herself. She's not sure how long the effects would last on someone stronger than herself, and what she would do if it didn't work. Another disadvantage is that it takes a lot of her concentration. It's not the best idea to use her kekkei genkai against multiple opponents unless they are weaker than her. Using it on a wider scale takes more chakra. Suzu is sure that with more training, she can increase the range and amount of opponents she can use it on, the length of time she can use it, and the amount of chakra it takes. She is also aiming to become more comfortable with it so it takes next to no concentration to bring her enemy to their knees. Using wires and senbon to better direct the sound helps considerably, but only decreases the chakra needed by a little.
(Okay, that's it! ^-^ If you want me to change anything, or if you want me to scratch the kekkei genkai, then let me know.)
