Name: Orino Tomishiba
Age: 14 (nearly 15)
Rank: Chunin
Village: Village Hidden in the Grass
Appearance: Orino is a girl of athletic physique and prominent features. Having grown up predominantly on an orchard, one can say that with age came ability, and she grew strong in no time. But perhaps her untimely strength comes with a downside: she is short for her age, no taller than a couple inches above five feet.
Her hair is of honey-shade and gentle curls, long enough to daily tie with pale ribbon into a ponytail. A thick wisp of swept bangs frame a pair of large and nutmeg eyes said to carry the very gloss of perseverance, her brow the steady bow of assurance. Orino's face is sunny and humorous when untroubled, her smile an omen of laughter.
Her wardrobe perhaps mimics a past life in the orchards. Over a white tank top is a pair of navy overalls cut into short shorts, the hem cuffed into girlish remnants of summer-day modesty. Not to be too revealing, Orino wears long maroon stockings that rise to a few inches below the cuff of her overall-shorts, a vertical line of white running down the seams at the side of her leg. An armband of similar color is worn on her right bicep, bearing the threaded insignia of the Grass Country.
Personality: Orino is one raised in the manner of having to work for what one wants, even if, in truth, that thing is what one deserves. This said, Orino has learned to be very resourceful, using anything and everything it takes to accomplish her task. Easily inspired, she also works best when the result will be admirable, something to look back on and be glad that she was a part of it.
Orino is not easily discouraged or angered; her life has taught her patience in relative amounts. A downside to her hard-core personality, though, is that she doesn't often know the limits of the people around her. She grew up around people who were just like her; softies don't really sync with Orino, and though she doesn't intend to be insensitive, she more often than not appears so. She has a fondness for good jokes and strawberry candy.
In general, Orino is simply happy to do her job, and she tries to bring this persona into whatever she does.
Background: Orino was born as the first child to a Grass Country farmer and his young wife. Raised in the hard-work lifestyle of the fruit orchards, Orino grew up accustomed to early mornings and heavy lifting--athletic by trade, if it suits.
Her early childhood was relatively peaceful: helping her father in the trees, assisting her mother with basic housework, doing her share in the family business. Soon after her ninth birthday, however, her life was turned dramatically by one simple instance of unwelcome adventure.
After the arrival of a runaway thief, Orino witnessed first hand the rule of ninja and their skill. She was amazed at their bravery and talent in capturing the equally-skilled thief, and she compared them to her simple life with her family. At that moment, she realized that she was not satisfied.
After the non-support of her father and the countering assurance of her mother, Orino was somewhat regretfully entered into the Grass' academy where she graduated with honorable scores, particularly in taijutsu.
During her further training, she understood her affiliation for earth-based jutsu, as well as her talent for physical attacks. Resourcefulness was proved an advantage, and she often placed well in situations requiring survival. Perhaps it was just that that allowed her to pass the chunin exams with her team at age 13.
Now, her missions don't always require the formation of her original teammates, as is common; they are provided with more independence and are even put into teams with other ninja. Regardless, Orino holds her team close at heart for their assistance in her success, and she enjoys the company of friendly faces.
