Personally I think we need a time frame clearly set out. I don't know why but I have got this idea that it's between series 1 and series 2 . Now this could work, it's a decent space where no one knows what happened, so we're free to do stuff without series constraints. Then we could also do it as being before series one or after series 2, seeing as then we can fully cut out the cannons for a reason. But I know some people are rping it like it's the start of series one. Now I'm not saying this is wrong or anything just that it makes the lack of cannons and the fact that only the main character teams become genin in the start of series 1 and none of us can pass the chunin exam cos we weren't in the comic! So anyways, like I said, I'm not saying anyone's wrong or right, just that I think that we need a clearly defined time frame for the betterment of this rp.

Well, my original intention was just to let you guys pick whichever time period you'd like to RP in; it would be between you and whomever you're RPing with at the time. Some of you may have chosen to make a thread taking place in Series 1, some of you chose Shippuuden, and others may have chosen to RP multiple threads taking place in multiple time periods.
I made it like this to allow more freedom really. {Honestly, I didn't know that you all would really like so much structure, lol}
And as far as that chunin exam stuff goes, I was just kind of ignoring the fact that none of us really passed at the test shown in the series.
I also didn't know that so many of you were so set on playing canons (which I'm still wary about).
I suppose, first of all, that I must post an application for canon characters. It'll just be difficult to pass, that's all. ^^;;
And as far as the time period here, I think that I'll gather a little public opinion and see which one everyone likes the best, which one would be better to RP in.
So, guys... what do you think?

Creating a time frame in a series that spans as llong as Naruto does wont work on an RP forum where there's no set story line. If we chose to make this an RP where there was a storyline that involved a large group of members (say 10-20), then a time would be needed but since people make up their own stories as they go along, it's just irrelevant having a time structure. But the other problem occurs when you have a character who has been the same age in two different posts which are like 4 years apart, causing some confusion, also, soon there will be a small storyline ish thing going on when Gurisetzu's master plan goes into action, and we won't know who's in the same time period as that and if they aren't what age rank etc. they are at that time. Personally now that I think about it, a time setting after Shippuden, like maybe ten years after, would probably be the best in my opinion. That way, if you do put up cannons people can make them their own and give them a bit more story line than they had in actual Naruto. Also then our characters can refer back to things that happened in the series'.

As far as confusion in posts go, I feel that we just need to be responsible and remember the time period in a certain post. (In some threads, I doubt that any time period is even necessary). And it's not like a character is stuck in the same time. I've started two threads involving Kaede, one being in the time before Nori's disappearance, and one a month after his kidnapping. People can flip flop as they wish (or so I planned). All they have to do is choose a reasonable time period (which we can just call the present [the age listed in their profile]) if they're involved in Gurisetzu's stuff.
As for the 10 years after Shippuuden... I'm not so sure. I don't quite know what you mean when you suggested that people could make canons "their own". And working in a future that far away would be very difficult, especially when referring back to events in the real series. Right now, Naruto (the series) is progressing so quickly, and things are getting so complicated. New characters are being elaborated on right before our eyes, and in ways never expected. It'd be hard to predict the outcome of the whole thing.

I just finished using Ikara in an RP with Haruka where she left for Suna but at the same time, she's also being used in the Hidden Leaf at night, whilst applying for a team in Suna....wow.....she has Hiro's power XD (heroes reference)

Fair enough, but these are all within a certain area of time, which is when these characters are the age they are, where does that time coincide with the timeline of the series'? That's all I'm asking.

Well now we've introduced the Canon's and you have to use their details as of Shipuuden, i'd say we were running simultaneously with Shipudden!
