Hiroji strolled down the street, his one arm in his pocket and his head down. He hadn't seen many people he knew, nor many people that wanted to talk or even take a glance in his direction. He was beginning to feel a bit lonely. Hiroji, being the quiet guy he is, wouldn't have talked much to people anyway, he was just looking for someone who wouldn't mind talking to a guy like him. He glanced at his other sleeve, it was pretty much empty and looked odd blowing in the slight breeze. He sighed, looking ahead again.

Tora ran down the street, looking flustered. Her adorable kitty, Rai, had just out-of-the blue jumped down from her lap and ran away. Tora had been sitting in a tree, and she had almost fallen out in the haste to catch her stubborn kitty. Unwilling to yell, Tora just called out softly "Rai!" and sprinted down the street, looking for the twitch of a silver kitten tail. A few dozen yards ahead of her on the straight street, Tora spotted Rai leaping along. Not thinking, Tora dove at her kitty, snatching him up from the ground. She landed nimbly on her feet, and hugged her kitty, while saying quietly, "Bad kitty. No more running away, you hear?" Rai just looked cutely up at her and mewed. Tora sighed in defeat, as she could not stay mad at her favorite kitty.

Hiroji caught sight of the cat running around and then he found himself staring at the girl as she was hugging the cat. Hiroji had seen another girl that had a little kitty a few days ago. He was so tempted to call out hellow to her, but he was slightly worried that she might be afraid of him, because of the fact that he had no arm. He just turned and continued walking, walking in a sort of zig-zag motion, kicking the occasional stone he saw. He glanced back at the girl, wondering if maybe this would be the person who'd talk to him.

Tora spotted a boy walking past, and before she could do anything, her curious kitty jumped out of her arms and pranced up to him, pouncing onto his shoulder and leaning around to look him in the face. Tora slowly slid a hand down her face, then jogged over to Rai and the boy. Lightly picking Rai off his shoulder, Tora could feel her face tinting. red from embarrassment of her cat's behavior. She apologized quietly. "I'm sorry about my cat," she said. "He's incredibly curious, and I wasn't holding on tight enough to him." Tightening her grip ever so slightly on the squirming kitty, Tora looked down at Rai. "Now, no more jumping on strangers. Acquaintances are okay," she scolded the cat, moving him to her shoulder.

"It's ok." Hiroji said, looking at the girl and her cat. He reached out cautiously to stroke the cat gently. "I don't mind." he said, looking at the girl once before continuing to stroke her cat very gently. His expression was sort of blank. "I'm Arishima Hiroji. You are?" he looked at her, a bit of curiousity showing now on his face. Hiroji now desperately hoped that this would be someone to talk to, he was in definite need of someone to chat a bit with, or at least walk around with. He hated being all alone.

Rai purred, enjoying being pet. "I'm Tora, nice to meet you," Tora said, cracking half a smile. "And this is Rai." She smoothed down some of the fur on her cat's head, then lightly brushed his ear, a habit that she had acquired which annoyed her kitty to no end. Rai twitched his ears indignantly. He didn't appreciate his ears being touched. Twitching his tail and squirming around a bit more, he signaled Tora that he wanted to be let down. Tora sighed, and muttered, "Don't you dare run off again.." She put her cat down, and he mewed and started walking a circle around Tora and Hiroji.

Hiroji looked at Rai, then glanced at Tora. He crouched down and reached his hand out for Rai to come closer. He didn't have much to say as he teetered back and forth, fighting for his balance. The 18 year-old medic-nin had balance troubles, without his left arm, his balance was thrown off. His medical bag was slung over his shoulder, and appeared to be heavy, when really, to Hiroji it was as light as a feather. "Your kitty is very nice." he said, reaching out to attempt to stroke Rai's chin. He continued to teeter.

Rai crept closer to Hiroji, sniffing his hand carefully. Then he allowed himself to be pet, purring in appreciation. Tora looked down at Rai. "He is a pretty nice kitty," she said. "But he can get a bit annoying sometimes, like when he runs off." Then she smiled slightly. "But it's really hard to stay mad at something that cute...." She stayed quiet after that, sticking her hands in her pockets. Tora didn't mind silence, and didn't feel the need to fill every silence with mindless chatter. Mindless chatter annoyed her, as well as the people who try to do that.

Hiroji nodded, continuing to stroke Rai's chin gently, a very, very, very tiny smile on his face. He sat down on the ground and continued to stroke Rai. He looked up at Tora. "Tora?" he asked. "Do you mind?" he looked at her curiously. He knew that he should've been specific when he said, 'do you mind.' He just didn't talk that much, since the raid several years ago. He continued to pet Rai, tempted to pick him up and put him in his lap, but, he had one arm to use, that would definitly not work.

Tora, who was daydreaming slightly, barely heard Hiroji's question. "Hmm?," she asked, but then his words registered in her brain. "Do I mind?," she asked. "Do I mind what?" Her legs starting to get tired of standing still, Tora sat down cross-legged on the ground. She slid a few fingers down her kitty's back twice, then let Hiroji pet him. Rai, enjoying all the petting greatly, purred deeply, and mewed once, turning his light blue eyes on Hiroji. He rubbed up against his hand, and put his front paws up on Hiroji's knee, looking up at him with gratitude.

Hiroji's small smile was a tad bigger. "That I don't talk much." he said. He scratched behid Rai's ears and under his chin gently. Now the temptation to pick Rai up was great. Hiroji didn't really know what it was like to have a cat in his lap. Hiroji took his hand away and gently pulled Rai into his lap to stroke Rai's back and behind his ears easier. He glanced at Tora, his grey eyes looking at her for a second, and then back down at Rai. He pressed his lips together and made a purring sound, mimicing Rai.

Rai purred, enjoying th petting and scratching. Tora looked up. "I'm not one for talking much myself," she said. She looked down again, thinking of how she used to be an annoying chatterbox, before her brother left. Her fingers twitched, almost clenching. She was irritated now that she was thinking it. But a weird purring noise distracted her. It didn't sound like Rai, so she looked up. Tora noticed that it was Hiroji. He had Rai in his lap.She raised an eyebrow, but looked curious and surprised, and she was thinking, 'How does he do that?' She's never seen anyone do that before.

Hiroji purred a bit more, still scratching and petting Rai. He stopped to look at Tora. "Why?" he asked, then glancing at Rai as he made his purring noise again. "Purrrrrrrrrr." Hiroji's purring went on quietly, so he could still hear Tora. Hiroji was actually somewhat enjoying sitting with Tora and Rai, and just talking a bit with Tora at least; more purring with Rai. "My story is long." he said, purring with Rai again shortly after. 'Parents were killed, girlfriend was killed, arm was cut off and here I am, oh that was really long.' he thought.

Tora stared down at the ground as the memories came from the back of her mind. Of her brother, of when she used to be energetic and talkative. Almost five years ago. "Mine could be fairly long, I suppose, if I used details," she said. "But here it is in a nutshell. When i was about 11, my brother who always stuck up for me ran away from home. I never saw him again. He was my role model, and my protector." She looked up. "So, what's your story? I know you said it's long, but I have time." Tora was curious. Rai made himself comfortable in Hiroji's lap.

"I'm an orphan." Hiroji said, still petting Rai. "I could've had a sister, but she wasn't born before my parents were killed." Hiroji glanced at Tora, this was the most talking he had ever done. "During the raid my girlfriend was killed and I lost my left arm." Hiroji brought his right arm up and rolled up his jacket sleeve to reveal the bandage around what was pretty much simply a small stub. He held the jacket sleeve up and sighed. "That's just basic details, I don't want to say...much more." Hiroji couldn't even believe how much he had just talked.
