[ikara - the Battle of Time is now open to everyone but please, read through the posts to get an idea of whats happening before you join in. And please dont try and hijack the plot] OOC: There are four people who should be on this thread posting and no others, later on towards the end of the battle I may put up a notice saying other people are allowed to come in, but for now, this is restricted to those four members. Sorry... IC: Kankurou dumped his pack down by a tree, after walking for a whole day non stop, a couple of scrolls and a sleeping bag started to get really heavy. He sat down, leaning against the tree and taking a long well deserved drink for his water skin. He munched on a small snack that he had bought in town earlier that day and then retrieved the map. He placed his finger down on it and checked the position of the sun to figure out about where they were. They weren't far from the leaf village, infact it was starting to look alot like the leaf surroundings. He surveyed the terain, it was a dense section of forest that they were walking through and there was a small tream bubbling past the clearing with nice fresh water funning through it. There was a bit of light filtering down through the trees but it was still a little dim. Kankurou sighed, atleast they didn't have far to go from here. He just hoped they didn't have any trouble, there could be bandits around here, and although he and Ikara would have no trouble decimating them, it would be an annoying waste of time. He turned to Ikara. "We're almost there, we should probably take a short rest here and then head off so that we can make it there before nightfall." It was already late afternoon, he guessed about four o'clock. "We should be able to catch the Hokage before she leaves her office if we're quick enough." he remarked positively.

Ikara collapsed onto a pile of leaves "Sounds like a good idea to me!" She smiled at him, her blue eyes shining in the sun. She had switched personalities a long while ago but she doubted Kankuro had noticed. He was often too wrapped up in his own thoughts to notice his surroundings. How else would he have failed to notice they were being tracked? She knew she should have said something but the adrenaline of a battle was something she could never pass up, no matter what soul was dominating her mind.
"Im hungry...." She frowned, reaching for her backpack and rummaging through it. She pulled out a huge bag of cookies and started devouring them, not really caring how the calories would affect her figure or how the e-numbers in them would affect her concentration.
She held the bag up to Kankuro, making the cutest face she could, her bright eyes widened.

Consealing herself in a nearby tree hallow, Juni watched her two targets carefully. Sliding her fingers along the feathers of her arrows, she waited patiently for her partner, Inusen, to arrive. It was the perfect time to strike, since the traveling pair seemed tired and off guard. "d**n, Inusen. Where are you?" she cursed under her breath, barely audible to even herself.
'I just hope it don't get stuck with Kisaragi again...' she thought to herself. Though Rei was her teammate, she absolutely dispised her perkiness and her constant need to apply make up. It made her sick to her stomach just watching her.

Kankurou begrudgingly accepted a cookie, in truth he wasn't a fan at all, they were ok, but he preffered to stay healthy, which meant avoiding foods like that... Generally. He downed the cookie in three bites and smiled back at her. She was being so perky, it was wierd. He had another swig of water but spat it out half way through. There had been a noise, a brushing sound that didn't seem natural. Kankurou jumped up, eyes darting around. he had been hearign noises like that all day but had dissmissed them mostly, but that one was definitely not an animal. He picked up his scrolls, his tiredness forgotten and beckoned to Ikara.
"Stand up, I get the feeling we have company, and I don't think they're harmless travellers..." he said staring into the bush. He decided to get the jump on his opponent and layed down two of the scrolls. Karasu the crow and his defensive puppet, Sanshouou the salamander. He pulled the strings and Sanshouou lifted up to reveal a hollow for him and Ikara to take shelter in if neccesary. He flicked his other hand and Karasu leaped into the brush where he had heard the sound, he waited with baited breath, to see if his puppet uncovered anything.

Inusen did a quick replacement jutsu, leaving the bush before he could be noticed. He ended up near Juni's hollow.
Cursing the fact that he probably had made too much noise in the bushes and ruined their cover, Inusen hoped Juni might forgive him if he performed well in this battle. He still wasn't entirely sure what Gurisetsu had meant by his orders, and had quite nearly forgotten them, but he was confident Juni knew what she was doing, and he would follow her lead for the moment.
The air in the forest seemed a bit stagnant to Inusen. He kinda hated that weather, but at least it wasn't raining...

"Company?" Ikara's ears pricked up, "Oh....that must be those people who were tracking us earlier!" She chirped.
She couldn't help but not see how that statement would upset Kankuro. This part of her soul had the mental maturity of a child; she didn't know any better.
"But they're gone now!" She pointed to where Inusen had been, "He just did a replacement jutsu into that tree over there" She pointed to the Hollow of the tree.
She may be very childish and not very good in a battle in this state but her perceptions were enhanced tenfold. She was extremely aware of all of her surroundings, regardless of whether she wanted to be or not.

Kankurou gritted his teeth. Now he knew exactly why this new Ikara was bothering him. It was a little brat version of her! He hated little kids, sure she had helped him out in pointing out their new location, but still that didn't make him like her any more. "And why didn't you point out the fact that there were really people out there before we got ambushed by them!" he asked her in an exasperated tone. "It's a wonder my brother can find a use for you apart from finishing the colouring in books he never had time for as a kid!" he sighed. This little squirt version of her was probably pretty much useless. That meant it was all on him. But he had somewhat of a plan and those perceptions could help.
Begrudgingly he asked. "Would you please just tell me everything you see from now on? OK?" then he raised his hands and prepared for battle. Karasu launched itself high into the air while Kankurou performed a series of hand signs, and yelled, "You're about to find out why this one is the Salamander!" Sanshouou opened it's mouth and belched flames all across the area of forest where the enemy ninja was, and Karasu still high in the air prepared it's weapons, numerous deadly kunai and other flying weapons shot out at the first thing that left those trees. Kankurou smiled. They coudn't avoid that flame without getting out of the tree and when one of them jumped out, Karasu would hammer them with kunai and shuriken.

As Inusen lept up next to her, she scowled him silently, but was secretly glad that he had shown up. She knew she couldn't take these two sand ninja on her own. She would need his assistance.
She slowly moved her hand, signaling for them to move forward and start the ambush. Though their possistion had probably been given away by Inusen's rustling in the bush. Just before the flames hit the tree, she hopped down to the ground in front of them, waiting for her partner to follow.

OOC: What about the flames?

As Kankuro performed his attack, Ikara felt the familiar twinge in her head. Now she was pissed. "I'll show you how its done...." She glared at him and made her hand seal "Wolfs Maelstrom" She barked.
The water in the atmosphere and on the ground gathered in front of her, forming into an icy wolf. It snarled and barked as it danced around at her feet. She pointed in the direction of their assailants and with its orders, the wolf raced towards them, gathering more and more speed as it rushed forwards. The air surrounding the jutsu turned icy cold and the wind started to pick up; the tree began to creak and a crack appeared down the bark as the gales got too much for it.

OOC: What about the flames? {OOC: Patience good man. Patience...By the way, should my character recognize Ikara, or was that filler...?} Things were getting just a bit hectic just for a beginning match. At least, to Inusen they seemed to be. Still, everything was coming together somewhat nicely for him. One enemy provides fire, the other provides water, and yet they didn't even realize this mistake. However, both seemed to be using a very strong jutsu, and were using it early. Inusen gathered that these weren't normal sand ninja. "Time to make myself useful..." Inusen thought. With that, he crouched next to Juni and whispered "Aori." A powerful gust of wind blasted through the area, redirecting the cold air and great volume of water over the fire that was spreading nearby. Inusen was still crouching, as if concentrating, but made no other movements. He would play it defensively for the moment, for he needed a little more time to gauge his opponent's strength. Steam began spreading throughout the area as the water doused the fire, and the fire evaporated the water.

[nah that was just random lolol]
"Hmm.....so you're smart...." Ikara's face remained expressionless, even as she got annoyed at her jutsu failing. "However, don't underestimate me....." She stepped forward "It may have been foolish to use opposing elements but...." She raised her hand; "By fusing the fire and water, you have produced steam. This spreads my attack across a much wider ground,"
Using the power of her kekkei genkai, she froze the moisture that was forming a mist across the grassy plane into thousands of tiny ice needles. They rained down on the two Time ninja.

"Hm, so she controls water...that's not good." Inusen realized quickly. He grabbed Juni and did another quick replacement jutsu, the icicles of doom sticking into two logs harmlessly.
"She controls water..." Inusen thought reminiscently from his new hiding spot. Even after all this time, he was still having flashbacks to his training with Rein. It seemed just recently she was showing him some of her new techniques, always involving water.
Inusen crouched down, lost in thought for the moment.

Without bothering to consult Kankuro, Ikara brashly chased after the opponents. She didn't need his permission to act so why wait? Out of the corner of her eye, she glimpsed the crouched figure. She came to a sudden halt and dropped to the ground; her small stature meant she was easily hidden under the long blades of grass; the late night frost beginning to form on them. She reached into her back pocket and pulled out two scrolls.
Gathering a small amount of chakra in her feet, she leapt into the air; not even considering any possible attacks her foe could be planning. "Rising Twin Dragons!" She yelled, rolling out the two scrolls which began to writhe like dragons in the air. An array of Sai's, Scythes, Shuriken and blades began to rain down on the enemy, Ikara's chakra strings controlling their every movement; Kankuro had actually proved to be useful.

(sorry oyushi. You posted just a little before me and i didn't get to realy yours before i posted. I modified and now it makes sense. Please, try not to leave me in the dust.)
Juni had been standing there dumbly for reasons unknown to her. But now, she was feeling better than ever about this battle. She nodded a thanks to Inusen for the replacement justu he preformed.
Pulling out an arrow from her quiver, fussing a bit of her chakra with it as she did so, she laid it on her bow string. Pulling back just enough for it to hit the girl at full force, she aimed accordingly and quickly. Letting it fly, it spiraled towards her. The arrows speed seemed to increase with each second. It was a dead shot. Perfect.
