Battle of Time! - now Open! (read first post first

{OOC: I have a question...what happened to our other teammate?}

Inusen came to his senses quickly. He again cursed himself for still making the same old mistakes of having his mind wander from battle. Gurisetsu had tried to focus his mind during their small amount of training, but lately Inusen couldn't help but be distracted by his thoughts. It was getting to be annoying as well as dangerous.

Now, as he looked up, he noticed that a large array of weapons were about to rain down on him mercilessly. Inusen noted quickly that Juni had fired off an arrow, and apologized mentally to her before whispering:

"Jinkun Kaze no Jutsu: Aori"

A very large blast of wind flew out from around him and batted the falling weapons, and Ikara, away from himself almost effortlessly. Unfortunately, this included throwing Juni's arrow off course entirely. Inusen regretted deeply that he had taken Juni's chance for a critical hit away from her, but he wasn't about to use his more serious techniques in this fight. In fact, he doubted he'd ever use them again if he had the choice.

"Maybe she'll forgive me later...I'll have to give her another opportunity to strike" He thought quietly. For the moment, though, he watched to see where Ikara would land, and also watched to see what the ninja with the puppets was doing. Readying himself, he drew his kodachi.

[ooc You mean Rei? She will not be joining us, since 1: she is off on a super secret spy mission for Gurisetsu, and 2: Ikara would rather not double rp with two charracters. ^^ so it's just you and me.]

Juni quickly used her infused chakra to pull her arrow back on it's original course. Though threw the strong wind it was difficult, but she kept her hold on it.

'Baka, making it harder one me...' she said mentally. Obviously Inusen hadn't realized that she could force her arrows direction with her chakra infussed. She didn't really care, just so long as her arrow hit its target.

[ooc ok, it was in a previous rp thread, so you wouldn't really know. We should have told you before hand. Sorry. But we're intercepting them on their way to Konaha. They're trying to find imfo on the Village hidden in Time. HOpe that helps]

Kankurou couldn't believe this. Ikara could be so infuriating. Uhhh! Look at me, charging ahead like a prized idiot! I can fight off two powerful ninja all on my own with my whacked out bath time power!. He began to head after her when she leaped up, throwing sharp things everywhere, that included at her team mate. He swore and rolled backwards having Sanshouou protect him from the raining objects. That was just great. First she uses an immature tactic like opposing element jutsus and now she hurls kunai at him! He wasn't sure just how long he could stand this, he leaned up into a half sitting position under his puppet only to have a blade stick through the outside of the puppet's shell and end up grazing his face. He gritted his teeth even harder and tried to think strategically.

What did he know? That boy could control wind, that meant even if Ikara wasn't playing bubble bath time, he could push away the flames, so fire jutsu... useless. He peeked out from underneath the shell of Sanshouou just in time to catch a special screening of Inusen's defensive jutsu and a glimpse at the homing arrow. So he can also perform a technique similar in nature to the Heavenly Illumination of Konoha's Hyuuga clan. But he couldn't see in 360 degrees, which meant that wouldn't protect him from an attack from behind, as long as he didn't know it was coming. That meant Kankurou had to make a choice, he could send Sanshouou to protect Ikara from that arrow, or he could use the cover so that the boy couln't see him control Karasu.

He eventually decided on the latter. He tilted up Sanshouou's side that was opposite to Inusen and peered out controlling Karasu to move quietly through the trees above the boy to get around behind him. He made sure Karasu took a very wide arc so that Inusen couldn't look up and notice him. Kankurou smiled as he prepared his puppet to attack. A kunai slid out of it's mouth ready to stab into the boy when this attack was done. He shot the puppet forwards aiming to grasp him with Karasu's four arms and drive the kunai into the back of his neck and hopefully through to his throat. Hopefully he had been sneaky enough that he hadn't noticed the puppet, hopefully it would get past his wind defense, hopefully it would be quick enough that he wouldn't substitue. So many hopefully's. that was bad.

OOC: BTW they are trying to ambush the two sands and ruff them up, give them a severe beating but not kill them. That way it will take them a long time to reach lady Hokage and they will be 'disuaded' (not actually but that's the idea) from pursuing info about the hidden time. But to kill them would be to openly invite a war, which Gurisetzu doesn't want yet. ;D

{OOC: Thanks for clearing things up Haruka and Oyushi; I get it now. Time to let my character die! Er, I mean...*ahem* time to continue.}

Inusen had finally located the other ninja. He was sitting behind his other puppet, something looking like a large lizard. Inusen couldn't quite comprehend why the ninja did nothing to help his ally, who clearly needed it. He was certainly up to something, and Inusen had a sinking feeling that he was not going to be able to counter it so easily.

"How about you join this fight rather than watch it?" Inusen called to Kankurou.

With that, Inusen crouched down again to fire off another Aori. At that precise moment, something like a wooden doll hit him from behind, sending him tumbling. Just before he had shot forward, he felt several arms grasp at his form wildly and a kunai flew over his head. The doll had probably missed because he had sunken his form into a smaller target at the last second.

Inusen couldn't quite fathom how lucky he had just been, but he knew that he needed to get away from the doll trying to wrap itself around him and stab at his head. He performed a small substitution jutsu and escaped to a nearby tree. Inusen decided to rethink his lighthearted battle-strategy, because it was apparent that this other ninja was seriously trying to kill him in any way possible.

[Oyushi]

Kankurou was ticked off when his attack somehow failed, he just couldn't see how it had! Karasu had hold of the guy, and then the kunai missed, aparently this squirt was alot better than he looked. But he had only barely avoided it and by the looks of things he was pretty rattled, that meant that kankurou was now in a position to do two things at once. He could see that that air kid wasn't counter attacking which meant he didn't have to hide under his puppet for now, which freed it up to defend Ikara from the glowing flying arrow that was speeding towards her.

Kankurou leaped out from under Sanshouou and raised the hand that was pointed at the defensive puppet, flicking it at the end. The puppet threw itself upwards using it's powerful legs and ended up infront of Ikara shielding her from the other ninja's attack. Hopefully. kankurou hated that word. Then he turned and looked across at the boy, he had quickly substituted, it hadn't been far, or hidden, which meant he was openned up for yet another attack from Karasu, he was good with those substitutions of his, but the sand jounin was confident that he was going to win.

Karasu leaped around to face the time ninja and opened its wrist cavity by dropping down its hand. A small pelet shot out towards the enemy ninja striking by him on a tree and exploding into thick smoke. Poisonous gas filled smoke. Kankurou couldn't see in there but he was willing to bet that the kid would use an air jutsu and after he had finished, when he wasn't suspecting another attack, Karasu would launch another deadly volley of flying weapons. Never the less, kankurou was wary, this kid was good and might find a way out of this.

[Ikara]

Ikara dropped back down to the grass. She glared at Kankuro; she really did hate him. She could just kill him right there and then and blame it on the Hidden Time nin. Then she wouldn't have to put up with his arrogant attitude and his constant put-downs.
She edged across the plain, keeping herself hidden amongst the grass blades.
She could have gotten rid of these punks ages ago if it hadn't have been for him. She crept along the ground, keeping low; a twinge of pain throbbed in her head. Ignoring it, she continued on.

She finally reached her destination; a small pool of water she had left from earlier. She placed a hand inside it and merged into it, completly disguising her body. She could use this to get closer to Kankuro and deal with all 3 shinobi at once.

Inusen's thoughts were again disrupted as the gas hit next to him on the tree. Smoke screen or poison? It didn't matter, as Inusen was sure he wouldn't need to be affected by it. He was readying an air jutsu when a thought hit him.

"Wait, they already know this wouldn't work on me, they can't be that dumb can they?"

Inusen decided to try a different tactic. After all, he remembered Gurisetsu had told him several times not to spam attacks. It would only let the opponent know what you're doing and be able to counterattack easily. It looked like Inusen would need to start thinking ahead again in this battle.

With that, he substituted out of the tree, and landed near the puppet ninja. Seeing him now without any puppets in front of him, Inusen reached into his leg pouch and tossed several shuriken at Kankurou with his left hand, then drew his kodachi and charged in for an attack. He was still keeping an eye out for the puppet that had attacked him earlier, he wasn't about to let it sneak up on him again.

[thought i'd point out that im deliberatly playing Ikara as totally useless in this battle....you'll see why later into the Chuunin exams lol]

OOC: Blocked by Sanshouou I guess, Kankurou threw him out there and then Ikara got ticked off that he protected her. Also, do think you post as Juni on the time board as well please? We need you there... Cos Rei stuffed up! >=(

Juni decided to try and get these stupid puppets out of the way, while Inusen worked on their puppet master. Sensing the vibration of the puppet that seemed to attack more, she pulled three arrows at once, string them all on her bow within seconds. NOt bothering to infuse chakra this time, she shot them in the direction of which she had felt the puppet. She just had to hope that it hit through the smoke.

Switching quickly back to defensive possitioning, she looked around causiously, hoping the other female ninja wouldn't end up popping out somewhere. she took two kunai, crossing them in the same many as one would use with their arms for taijutsu defense.
