"Alright, we'll meet at that bench right there in a couple minutes, okay" Kyokki agreed, gesturing to a bench right by an empty, closed stall. Then she pulled out the rest of her money, and slipped through themarket place, bying lunch.
She chose the grapes she had been eyeing, a small paper container of arare crackers, and a styrofoam bowl of tonjiro soup with a spoon, and then sat down to wait for Haruka.

Haruka nodded in agreement, not that Kyokki would see it; she was already long gone, snagging up some ripe looking grapes. With a slightly laugh and a shake of her head, Haruka looked around the market place for something she could make a good meal of.
Picking up a bag of ajigonomi as she passed a table selling bags of them, she grabbed an apple from a fruit cart and quickly paying for it. Unfortunately, after buying only these two things, he money was near its end. She forgot that she had just gone grocery shopping for Mabuki.
Sighing she went back to the bench, where Kyokki was already waiting for her. "I'm back..." she grumbled, taking a seat. "So, what all did you get?" she asked, eyeing the food in her hands.

"Grapes, crackers, and soup," Kyokki told her gesturing to the meal she was trying to balance on her lap and on the edge of the bench. Soup bowl in one hand, she examined Haruka's food.
"Won't you be hungry? I've got a little left over, if you need," she said, eyeing the spread and realizing they had similar taste.
Kyokki took a grape from the plastic bag, glad she had remembered to get the seedless kind this time. She popped one into her mouth. Last time she had forgotten, and Amane had ended up eating all of the fruit.

Haruka shrugged. "It'll hold me till i at least get home or something." she said with a grin, again her stomach growned and she crumpled slightly in hunger pains. "Hopefully..." she added quietly.
She quickly broke open her bag of ajigonomi with a slight pop and crackle of the plactic. After that she took a large bite out of her apple. It was surprisingly very tangy, not like a normal red apple. Maybe it was not quite ripe. She shrugged. Offering the bag of mixed snacks out to Kyokki, she said, "Hey, want any? There's a ton here. I got the big bag."

"You sure? Offer still stands..." Kyokki told her, offering her several grapes in exchange for a handful of ajigonomi, "If you're a medic you should know that when your body runs out of fuel, it starts eating your muscles."
It was a lesson that had been pounded into her time and again, until she no longer tried to get away with sparring or training without first having eaten.

Again, Haruka shook her head in a polite decline. "No no no... I'll just get something more to eat when i get home." she assured her smiling. "But..." she grabbed on grape quickly from her hand and popped it into her mouth. "I couldn't resist one. The looked good!" she said happily as she chewed on the sour-sweet fruit.
"And i know very well that your body feeds off your muscles..." she said. "But first it goes to fat." she grinned.

Kyokki donned a skeptic face, but smiled.
"If you even have any," she replied.
She ate a handful of crackers, and another grape. She savored the taste of the juice on her tongue, and running down the back of her throat.
"Grapes are my favorite fruit. It used to be bannanas, though. I hated grapes until I was thirteen, believe it or not. I was a real picky eater as a kid."
She laughed lightly.

Haruka grinned goofily, patting her stomach. "No abs... all flab." she laughed. This was absolutely no joke. She was seriously in need of doing some ab work outs, but it was such a pain sometimes.
"I used to be really picky too." Haruka said, finding something they had in common. "I wouldn't eat anything that i now find very good. Seafoods i wouldn't even touch. And don't get me started on... erh... certain vegetables by the name of broccoli." she stuck out her tongue. "I still won't eat those."

"Vegitables and sea food," Kyokki agreed, humor shining through in her eyes, "Certain relatives used to ask of I was switched with a foriegn baby at birth. Man Dad got angry when they said that, but they were mystified that I wouldn't eat fish. And I avoided cauliflower like the plague. There's just no way to make that stuff taste good, even now."
She grinned at Haruka, taking a sip of her soup.

Haruka laughed. "I could understand why they would think you weren't from Japan." she said through her giggles. "I mean, really. Fish is Japan's number one food!" she finally was able to stablize her laughing fit and calm down. "But yeah, cauliflower is something i still won't touch either. It's too closely related to broccoli."
She shook her head. "But i love sea food now. Like shrimp and crap, espcially shrimp!" she grinned. "I sound really obsessed, don't it?" she grinned proudly.

"You do," Kyokki agreed with mock disdain, but a smile ruined the affect, "I'll stomache seafood, and I don't have anything about it. But it wil never excatly be my favorite. I love beef and steak, despite the expense. And fruit. Okay, and the entire whole of the grain group. Not too much of the healthy stuff though." She stuck out her tongue.

Haruka laughed at Kyokki's strange look of distaste. "Yeah. I'm big on grains. That's mostly what i eat..." she shrugged. "And steak is really good. I'm not big on beef but... eh, what you going to do? I have sensitive taste buds. It's not like i can help it." She smirked. For so long, and even in her present time, she realized, she usually refused to try anything new. She despised anything with a certain texture that felt wierd in her mouth, even if it's taste was already. If the texture was off, she would not touch it again.

"We have similar taste then, Haruka-san " Kyokki smiled, "In writing and reading and food. So what about music, then? It's not as much of a fixture in my life as it is in my cousin, Sen's, but I still enjoy listening to it. So, what kind do you listen to?"
She finished off the last of her soup, and kept eating grapes.

Haruka shrugged. "It would seem so." she said with a grin. She stroked her chin, almost as if she had a beard there, pondering music tastes that she had. "Well, i've always been more of a alternative rock kind of person. That and... some showtunes..." she laughed. "Weird mix, wouldn't you say?"
She continued to dig through her bag of toasted snacks. It was about half gone and apple, which had been extremely juicy and crunchy, was already down to it's core. "What about your favorite music?" she aske in turn.

"Mostly alternative rock," Kyokki told her, amused, "but I listen to some of the other types of rock, if the artist is good enough. Especially the western artists like Metallica, System of a Down, andEvanescence. And I have a secret love for Utada Hikaru's music, even if she is majorly pop. I blame my cousin Sen."
It seemed she and Haruka had a lot in common.
