The young woman’s face flushed when she heard a cough behind her. She had almost forgotten that she wasn’t alone. She quickly turned around, eyeing the man with still a little pink on her cheeks. ‘Uhm.. The tea is ready. Please have a seat.’
Hishime didn’t reply to this, just walked over quietly and sat down on the pillow with crossed legs. “Thanks..” She mumbled quietly, her lips formed into a little smile, like usual. She held her hands above the cup, trying to warm her fingers a little bit more with some help of the steam.
“So, uhm..” ‘Yuki’ started, deciding that it had to be her turn to start a little conversation. There was a short pause, a second of uncomfortable silence. “Is it always this cold here?” She asked, looking up at him with a curious expression on her face.

“Is it always this cold here?” Yuki asked curiously. Takumi thought about it for a bit.
"More or less. It can get a little warmer, and it can get a lot colder... but this is about average," Takumi replied. He took a long, slow sip from his own cup before he continued. "A lot of visitors don't like it here because it's always too cold for their liking, but I for one rather enjoy it... There's just something about it that I find... refreshing, and relaxing..." He laughed a bit. "I'm sure you think I'm crazy for that, but there you are."

“Crazy?” Hishime’s smile slowly faded, her expression changing into a more serious one. “No, not at all.” Her gaze dropped, eyes now directed at her own cup of tea. There was something about him. She didn’t know what it was. But it reminded her of someone. Who? She wasn’t sure. Without noticing, her cheeks flushed again, a little bit lighter this time.
She felt a little nervous, out of a sudden. She couldn’t explain why. The kunoichi didn’t speak for a whole minute, just kept rubbing her hands together above her teacup. At a lack of words, she just simply decided to thank him again.
“Thanks for everything..” She mumbled quietly, the blush on her cheeks slowly fading away.

"Have I said something wrong?" Takumi wondered as he watched Yuki's smile fade, and frowned as she stared into her cup. There was obviously something on her mind, but he doubted she would tell him what. The two of them sat in silence for a minute, as Takumi sat slowly drinking his tea, when Yuki mumbled her thanks to him again out of nowhere.
"You're quite welcome, Yuki, but please try to feel more at home while you're here." Takumi tilted his head, watching her with soft blue eyes. "Please?"

‘You’re quite welcome, Yuki, but please try to feel more at home while you’re here.’ The man said. Hishime looked up at him, about to say something before she was interrupted by his blue eyes. She couldn’t help but look at them for a short amount of time. ‘Please?’
‘Yuki’ broke the eye contact, sighing quietly while closing her eyes for a split second. A bad example. If she would feel the same way she felt at home, she would be leaving immediately. But she couldn’t tell him that, of course. The kunoichi smiled a tiny smile, carefully taking the cup in both of her hands and gently sipped.
“Sure thing.” She replied, eyeing him one more time before placing the cup back on the table.

Again, Takumi had the feeling he's said something wrong, but he couldn't figure out what. Unless...
"Unless home isn't a good place for her..." he thought. That was the only explanation he could think of. After all, he'd hardly even said anything, so what else could have been wrong? That must be it, then...
"What I mean to say is... I want you to feel like you're able to relax here. I want you to feel..." Takumi searched for something to say that wouldn't be taken in a bad way. "I want you to feel like this is a good place. A safe place. Okay?"

‘What I mean to say is; I want you to feel like you’re able to relax here. I want you to feel..’ There was a short pause between the man’s words. ‘I want you to feel like this is a good place. A safe place. Okay?’
Hishime looked up at the man, an eyebrow raised. Then, after a second of dead silence, she couldn’t help but laugh. “You sound like you’re talking to a little kid, Takumi-san.” She said, her laughter quickly fading shortly after. She figured that somehow, he saw that there were things bugging her, and that he was simply trying to comfort her. Then again, she hadn’t said anything that could have given away any information like that.
With that comment, she had also answered his question, but he probably wouldn’t notice. She couldn’t relax, of course not. She was a shinobi and couldn’t let her guard down at any time. She couldn’t feel like this was a safe place. No place was safe, not for her at least.
The woman smiled another one of her little smiles before bringing the cup to her lips, and carefully sipped. Once the cup was placed back on the table, she lifted one hand, running her fingers trough her black locks, the smile remaining on her face.

"Always a shinobi..." Takumi thought with a defeated sigh. He knew he really should be like that too, but... he liked the thought that while he was a shinobi while on missions or in a dangerous situation, he could feel more at peace and set all of that aside while he was home, home being to him a vague notion, more a feeling than a place. The mists outside Kirigakure were his home, the ocean was his home, his daydreams were his home... but this woman seemed like she would never feel at home, not the way he felt it.
"Still," he thought. "... I hope I'm wrong about that..."
Takumi sat silently drinking his tea, watching his guest run her fingers through her hair with his eyes lowered from hers so as not to meet her gaze.

The ninja drank silently. Neither of them spoke. The silence was slowly starting to drive her crazy. Also, she noticed that there was something bugging the man in front of her. It was probably something that was none of her business, but if it was because of her, she had to know. It wasn’t her intention to change his once happy and cheerful mood.
The silence was awkward, and almost painful. It was like both of them were trying to read each other’s emotions, trying to get to know each other just by studying. One thing caught her eye. He was also trying to avoid eyecontact, just like her, but he was still looking at her as if he wanted her to say something.
Hishime brought her cup to her lips one more time. She waited a second. “What’s with the long face?” She asked, then opened her mouth to let the warm liquid in for the last time. She gently placed her now empty cup back on the table, watching the man with curious eyes.

"What's with the long face?"
Takumi gave something between a laugh and a sigh. Did he really look so dismal?
"It's nothing..... Yuki..."
He looked down at her empty cup and laughed a little, turning his eyes to his own. Despite all the time he'd spent drinking it, his was still half full. Setting it down, he looked up at his guest once more.
"Would you care for some more? I wasn't sure how much you would want, so I made plenty."

‘It’s nothing…. Yuki..’ Takumi replied. There was something odd. Why was there a long pause between ‘It’s nothing’ and her name? Okay, it was a false name. Wait, was that it? Maybe he was waiting for her to finally tell him her real name. Seemed logical. But, would it be smart to tell him already? Sure, there was no one else here, but still..
‘Would you care for some more? I wasn’t sure how much you would want, so I made plenty.’
Hishime slowly shook her head, even thought she knew it was a bit rude to not accept the offer. “I’m fine, thank you.” She replied, bowing her head slightly. “Besides, I promised you I would cook us a meal, didn’t I?” She gave the man a quick wink, once again, smiling that half-smile of hers.

Ahh yes... a meal. Takumi was getting pretty hungry, but... it occurred to him that she had looked very tired earlier, so maybe it could wait...
"Wouldn't you like to rest first? I really don't mind," he lied politely. A good host should always try to be considerate, he felt.
She still wasn't telling him her real name, though. He was sure he'd put in enough of a gap to get his point across, but if she noticed, she didn't show it... and that wink was throwing him off. Nobody winked at him. Nobody ever winked at him. He really wasn't sure what to make of it.

‘Wouldn’t you like to rest first?’ Takumi asked. To be honest, she could use a few hours sleep. But she was actually very hungry herself, and she knew he would be too. ‘I really don’t mind.’ It was pretty obvious he was lying, and Hishime knew it.
“You’re not a very good liar.” She said quietly, her smile replaced by a grin. The female placed both hands on the table, and dragged herself back on her feet in one smooth movement. Placing her hands on her hips, she was now able to look down on him. “Plus, I haven’t eaten anything in two days.”
She made eyecontact, meeting his blue eyes with her ocean-green ones.

Takumi blinked as their eyes met, and he stared for a moment before he suddenly stood up.
"Two days...? You must be starving! Why didn't you say so earlier, you simply must eat! Are you sure you don't want me to cook for you? I'm so sorry, I didn't know it'd been so long!"
Takumi was in something of a panic as a host - this was a major remission on his part, one that was simply unacceptable! He really wanted to make amends for this error, but aside from cooking their meal instead, he really didn't know how. Takumi hoped that she would be able to forgive him.

Hishime quickly took a step backwards as the man stood up oh-so suddenly. She didn’t break the eyecontact. ‘Two days?’ The man asked in disbelief. The young girl blinked, slowly nodding. ‘You must be starving! Why didn’t you say so earlier, you simply must eat!’ The kunoichi held her hands to her chest, clutched together in loose fists, just simply staring at Takumi as he continued panicking. ‘Are you sure you don’t want me to cook for you? I’m so sorry, I didn’t know it’d been so long!’
“Uhm.. I’m fine..” She said, her voice somewhat nervous yet a little bit annoyed. “I’m fine, really..” The woman didn’t give him a chance to burst out again, she immediately continued. “I’m pretty much used to it, it’s okay!”
